To be brave is to stop and shed a tear,
And still bear to put on your armor,
To feel you could drop right there,
To feel like there is no safe harbor,
And still not bow to the suffering,
To reach your endurance breadths,
To face the worst that life could bring,
And find your way our of the depths.
To be brave is to be what you've been,
To know such pain and still fight anyway,
To be so afraid and not get lost in between,
To ail so and still preach hope every day,
To gain enough confidence and control,
To lose hair and still hold your head higher,
It is to still let hope perch in your soul,
When you're walking through the fire.
It's how you've handled life's worst blow;
You've had your identity ripped from you,
Yet you haven't lost the glow, or even let go,
You have not let what you're going through,
Define you or take away your fighting spirit,
It is your attitude that has carried you on,
It's your attitude that'll carry you through it,
Hold on to love, to us, to hope till this is gone.
