Another day's here,
And mine mother dear,
Shifts her weight in the bed,
Still holding on to the thread,
And as I pull the curtains apart,
Mother, once strong of heart.
The fear in her eyes,
Though to hide she tries,
It's got her pale and shaken,
The fear of being forgotten,
When someday she is gone,
And the world must roll on.
How far until dusk,
How soon until a husk,
Till it's done taking its ride,
The creature that lurks inside.
It's been, for her, a daily battle,
Without rest, not even a little.
And I say every day,
That I'm here all the way,
I'm here when pain taunts you,
I'll be here to walk you through.
Know you're not alone in the fire,
I'll be here and never shall I tire,
Of the talks about God,
And of the path not yet trod,
When you relive your memories,
When you wander through stories,
When you just need to complain,
Or get something for your pain.
I'll be here all the way.
