Chapter 31 - Beneath The Undergrowth

I cry, but my tears don't fall,

'Cause my shame stills my bawl,

And the tears dribble to the inside,

Sousing, drowning me in a woeful tide.

I cry, but my screams will ne'er come out,

Barred within, they bounce back about,

Wrecking from within, bits leaking,

Razing like a caged lightning.

This is no way for a man to die,

Wrecked as the world moves on by,

Blind to a soul that's all along been there,

Dying in a maddening quietness and despair.

Inter me in the woods 'neath the undergrowth,

In your lives and my death, forget me in both,

Sing me ye no dirge should I die this way,

Write no flowery eulogy. Cast me away.

Where no man shall remember me,

Where no woman shall mourn me,

Where no child shall ever know,

For it's only better so.
