Ren sat cross-legged on the bed, fiddling nervously with the hem of his shirt. The hum of the shower finally stopped, and moments later, the bathroom door opened, letting out a puff of steam.
Kade stepped out, his still damp dark hair clung to his pale face. No matter how hard Kade tried to hide, the tiredness clinging to his dropping eyes was still evident to Ren.
But an unmistakably warm smile settled on Kade's face as his gaze met Ren's.
Ren jumped up from the bed immediately. "Are you okay? Did my dad-?"
"I'm fine, angel," Kade reassured, ruffling Ren's soft hair as if to ease his anxiety.
The reassuring gesture and soft tone didn't do much to alleviate Ren's concern. Then, without saying anything further, he grabbed Kade's wrist and gently pushed him toward the bed.
"Sit."
Kade arched a curious brow at his worried angel. A faint smirk lingered at the corners of his mouth as he obeyed.
