Kade stepped inside the room, and Ren panicked even more. He shuffled toward the bedside table. He opened the drawer and hastily shoved the bag inside, slamming it shut before turning back to face Kade with a nervous smile.
He half expected Kade to question him, to even lash at him for being irresponsible, but the Marshal did no such thing. Instead, Kade closed the distance between them, until he was standing right near Ren and... sniffed him slightly before backing away.
Kade's oppressive aura had scared him into taking a step backward. The silly Ren stumbled on the edge of the bed and fell onto the bouncy mattress.
"Err...You didn't lock the door," Kade said, his voice deceptively calm as he gestured to the open doorway of the room.
"I...uh, I didn't think I needed to?" Ren replied weakly. He tilted his head to one side and blinked his eyes at Kade.
