Ren watched Terim leave, the door clicking shut softly behind him. The room returned to its previous silence, broken only by the soft beeping of the medical apparatus.
The sound reminded the cub just how close it had come to losing Ren today. Without waiting any longer, the little system jumped lightly and hugged Ren, its soft fur tickling his neck.
Feeling the restless creature rubbing its head against him, Ren hugged the little god as he had done many times before. Unlike before, the little cub did not fight him. On the contrary, it leaned into his touch, seeking comfort just as much as Ren did.
Ren let out a sigh, his fingers gently stroking the cub's soft fur.
"Little God," Ren began, but he couldn't finish his sentence.
"Ren, I am sorry. I am such a useless system. I always leave you all alone to deal with situations-"
"Whoa, whoa. Calm down, my darling," Ren interrupted, his voice soothing.
