Cyo and Jamie were at the front, followed by Eray. It was just after midnight. From miles away Eray could see the bright lights of the capital city. What he was trying to do was really stupid, but he was tired of living like this.
"Brother, is there really a special class monster here?" Eray asked, hoping for a no or a joke. Cyo said, "Yes, there is indeed a special class monster. After all the dungeons were sealed, this thing lived and grew stronger for centuries. Eventually it became a special class monster." Eray didn't answer.
"Don't worry, if we make a deal with this thing, your life will change," Cyo said with a half smile.
The entrance to the temple was sealed. It was impossible for a normal wizard to enter. But the key Cyo held in his hand was a high-level magical item.
Cyo stood at the entrance to the temple. After looking around, he held the key up and said a few magic words. At first nothing happened, then the entrance to the temple opened with different styles of circles and lights.
As Cyo moved cautiously forward, followed by Jamie, Eray's fear grew even more. He froze in place.
"Come on, Eray, hurry up," Cyo said in a low voice without even turning around.
Even Cyo's low voice was frightening for Eray. "We're doing something so dangerous that my brother even started whispering at the entrance to the temple," Eray thought.
Cyo, a level 3 mage, was in the front, followed by his two brothers, Jamie, a level 5 mage, and Eray, who had no magical powers whatsoever, began to make their way through the temple.
Cyo cast a simple lighting spell. A sphere formed and began to illuminate its surroundings with a blue light. Jamie cast the same spell. The surroundings were well lit.
The statues standing in a row from the entrance of the temple looked quite eerie. Focusing on the faces of the statues, Eray accelerated his steps in fear.
Some statues had no heads, some had very creepy smiles and some had expressionless faces. Thinking that they could come to life at any moment, Eray kept walking, holding the sword at his waist.
Cyo was in the lead and he was looking around, unable to stop the expressions of surprise and amazement on his face.
Jamie was starting to get spooked too.
"The temple doesn't look that big from the outside," Eray said in a low voice.
Neither Cyo nor Jamie answered.
Cyo and Jamie's expressions became even worse than Eray's as they continued inside the temple. Eray's fear was about what he saw. He couldn't feel any magic power. But Cyo and Jamie's fear was about this demonic energy they felt.
As Cyo moved forward, Jamie felt the need to vomit against the fear he felt.
Although Jamie could use magic, he had no combat experience. All his magical experience came from his teachers and the soldiers he trained with. He was at the lowest magic level, 5th grade.
They had finally reached the end of the temple. Now there was nowhere to go, only a stone gate tens of meters high.
The 3 brothers stood in front of the gate. Jamie was still covering his mouth with his hand and trying not to vomit.
Cyo, the older and more experienced one, was examining the door. As Eray saw Jamie, he imagined how scary this evil magic he couldn't feel could be.
As Cyo examined the door, he noticed some inscriptions. He flew his orb of light upwards to read them. Eray came up to Cyo with a mixture of curiosity and fear and asked, "Brother, what are these writings that I can't read?"
Cyo said, "Black tongue Eray. I had no idea something like this existed here," he said, biting his lip. "How could my father allow something like this to happen so close to the capital." With a strange grin.
Then, not looking too eager, he said, "We have to get out of here, we've been very stupid. Pack it up, we're going back."
Before Jamie and Eray could answer, there was a chilling sound. The inscriptions above the door, written in the black language, glowed ochre.
The door began to shake. Cyo shouted, "We're leaving quickly. Run," he shouted.
Before they could even take a few steps, the three brothers froze. They could not move. Meanwhile, the door began to shake. It was as if an earthquake was happening. The 3 brothers could not take a single step. Fear had taken them captive.
Was it magic that prevented them from moving or was it the survival instinct that every living being is born with? Indeed, their instinct refused to run away, even if they did not realize it themselves.
The feeling that something would swallow them if they ran prevented them from moving. The brothers didn't realize it, but the moment they entered the temple, something was activated and leaving without permission would result in certain death.
Their bodies kept moving on their own. Now the door was wide open. They were being drawn in. With fear and despair, like slaves obeying the orders of masters, the brothers walked involuntarily through the room into the absolute darkness.
