The rain is his disadvantage, but it is what is attackers rejoice! This is the point you say your last prayers and hope you make it to heaven, even though you know you did not get the chance to repent, or you took your chances for granted.
It is too late now as death is calling his way but he is still not sure if this is the death God meant for him, all in all, it is likely the one!
He got lost in his thoughts that he forgot all about his misery. He could not feel pain anymore, he wondered if he was dead already.
Death is not so bad after all, I feel fine. He consoled himself. Wait, is he dead? Off course not, dead people do not speak!
The man is hunging head down from a guava tree, but his assailants are nowhere to be seen. He must have passed out sometime back. The last thing he recalls is a knock on his head, that was the moment he thought he had made it to heaven already. He was not dead, the assailants had dissappeard.
He thought they had given him some time to think about his life before they took it. He did not make an attempt to untie himself from the tree. He felt dizzy.
Time went by, still there was no sign of anyone coming his way.
A man in black came towards him, at this point he had given up beyond redemption. He thought the man was sent to finish him.
The man had a black mask on, no identity, he did not speak to hunging man.
"What is your name?" The masked man asked.
"My,my name, my name is, Fairchild." He replied terryfied.
Well, Fairchild, today is your lucky day. I am going to untie you, run back home and do not under any circumstances look back.
Fairchild got more confused the more the masked man spoke .
Fairchild asked the man his name but the man told him that they will meet again in the future, he only told him to keep off trouble until that time comes.
Fairchild could barely walk, he tried his best to get to the main road.
On the way he heard a car approaching from behind, he was too scared to keep on walking.
He hid but the car stopped when it got to where he was hiding.
"Hello, I saw you get off the road. You look like you could use my help, come out, believe me I'm your only hope right now. I am Erommi by the way!"
Erommi was the first person that Fairchild came accross apart from the masked man.
Up until now, Fairchild has no idea where the men who wanted to kill him dissapeard to.
He got in Erommi's truck as it sped off.
Thirty minutes later, they were entering the city. He felt some joy in his heart, some moments back he had accepted his fate.
Thanks to the masked man and Erommi, he lived to see another day. It can only be God's grace, this was beyond human intervention, he could not believe it.
Maybe his life had purpose after all.
Erommi dropped him at the town square and he headed home vowing never to take any moment of his life for granted!
The joy made him forget all the beatings he got before he was rescued!
