My back ached.
I was layed sprawled out on the floor….and I could smell a fresh breeze. Long grass tickled at my ears.
I sat up slowly, my head aching.
"No way!" I exclaimed, opening my eyes and staring around frantically from where I was sat.
I was in the middle of a giant meadow!
The sky was clear and I was surrounded by grass and a variety of different flowers.
"Your finally up."
Then a shadow cast over me, and I looked up.
A man with pale skin, and messy black hair that was being blown by the wind stood looking down at me.
Yeah.
You guessed it.
It was the rank S.
I mean, nobody else had come through the portal. I don't know who else I expected it would be.
"You scared me when you fell from the sky and wouldn't wake up. I thought you were dead or something." He crossed his arms.
Was I getting scolded?
"Oh..Uhm my bad." I got to my feet, absorbing the surrounding area.
"Hey. How long until the others come through the portal?" He asked me as he watched the sky expectantly.
"I don't know,"
Then suddenly a loud thud sounded behind me, and I spun around.
It was Ana!
She had face planted onto the floor, a few feet away from me.
I rushed over to her and crouched down by her side, shaking her shoulders.
Was she okay!?
"Ana! Can you hear me!?"
Then to my relief, she lifted herself up shakily.
She gave me a jittery thumbs up as she clambered to her feet.
I sighed in relief.
Then suddenly, Ana scowled.
"How could you leave me!? Don't just ditch me like that next time!" Ana pointed at me and shouted.
"Oh, I'm sor-"
BANG.
Someone else fell from above us.
Then another.
And another.
Annnnd another….
And….yep. Another.
"Woah. It's raining people!" I covered my head impulsively.
….As if that would do anything if a grown ass adult fell on me. But it was a reflex, okay!?
I wonder how people aren't breaking their bones…
I glanced up at the sky.
The people appeared a few metered above us, out of a collection of pixels that quickly collected together into the player, who then fell and landed on the floor.
This must be how I got here too.
Most people must be going through the portal, now that they had seen a few other people do it.
Jeez. Humans were such followers. Can't even think for themselves…
….not that I was any different.
And besides, they probably didn't have much choice because if they didn't go through the portal - they would've most likely been stuck in the cave forever.
Gradually, the meadow got filled with people and surrounding area was becoming packed. I could hear a few annoyed exclamations when people fell onto eachother.
…..
Then, gradually, less and less people spawned from the sky.
…everyone in the cave had gone through the portal.
A notification appeared in front of me, and I could see others looking down at their own notification as well .
We must all have gotten the same notification.
I began to read it, frowning the more I read.
[ Welcome to floor one. "The meadow." The goal is for you and your partner to defeat three monsters each. If you both kill 3 monsters each: then you pass level one. There is no time limit. ]
Kill monsters?
Kill 3 monsters?
Kill 3 monsters EACH?
….
We're dead.
