"You cannot call in sick for the fifth time this week, mi Amoré." Dominique chuckled, his voice teasing as he placed a tender kiss on Kalina's pouted lips. She crossed her arms defiantly, her eyebrows drawing together in a stubborn scowl.
"Of course I can. I'm the boss, so I can do what I like." she insisted, her tone tinged with irritation as she lifted her chin in defiance.
"Be that as it may, you have to, baby." Dominique's voice softened as he tried to reason with her, his eyes searching hers for understanding. "It's been three weeks, and you need to go there before Delvin starts getting suspicious."
"I don't care." Kalina shot back, her voice sharper now, a spark of frustration flickering in her eyes. "He can take his business elsewhere if he doesn't like it."
