"What is wrong with you?" Kalina asked Dominique, frustration evident in her voice as they walked into the mansion.
Nikolas, Mia, and Fluffy's heads snapped in their direction. Fluffy began to excitedly wag its tail in Mia's arms, happy to see her human. Joline wasn't present because she had gone to hang out with some friends, and Lorenzo wasn't back yet either.
Dominique walked up the stairs, his face set in a hard, unreadable expression. Nikolas quickly went up after him, stopping briefly to shoot Kalina an apologetic look.
"I'll talk to him." Nikolas assured her, his voice gentle, before following Dominique.
"What happened?" Mia asked Kalina, her voice filled with worry, as she pulled her upstairs and into her room before locking the door. Kalina sat cross-legged in the middle of Mia's bed, her shoulders slumped and eyes downcast. Fluffy crawled onto her lap, looking up at her with wide, concerned eyes, whining softly, sensing Kalina's distress.
