"Don't you love me anymore?" Her voice was soft and broken, her eyes searching his for reassurance.
Dominique froze, the weight of her words and the situation crashing down on him.
Their relationship was not one based on love, and Kalina knew that.
But as she stared at Dominique with sad, pleading blue eyes, he couldn't help but be worried about what exactly she remembered because it was clear to him that her memory was a jumbled mess.
"Why aren't you saying anything?" she questioned again, her voice trembling with a mixture of confusion and hurt. "You don't love me anymore, do you?" She said as tears began to stream down her cheeks, her lower lip quivering.
"No, please don't cry." Dominique pleaded, his heart aching as he gently cupped her face, wiping away her tears with his thumbs.
He hated it when she cried, but what could he do? They both didn't love each other, so how could he respond to her question?
