After the final exams, a sense of anticipation enveloped the young man in his early twenties, yearning for admission to his dream university—the prestigious National University of Technology, fondly known as NUT.
Hailing from Origana, situated in the heart of Afaricina, the boy from Trania, Tahir Jamal, exerted himself during the finals, striving to stand out among his peers despite his average academic record. Tahir, recognized for his tranquil demeanor, was someone who approached life with a measured grace, eschewing impulsive actions or reactions.
As the weeks unfolded and universities welcomed new applicants, Tahir found himself consumed by restless nights and the constant fixation on admission lists. Sleep and sustenance became elusive, his thoughts locked onto the names that would determine his future.
During this anxious period, Tahir's parents, Rufaida and Jamal, stood steadfast by his side. A family united in anticipation, the household echoed with a mixture of hope and tension. Tahir's immediate sister, Zairiya, on the brink of completing her secondary education, and his youngest brother, Asfar, navigating the challenges of junior secondary school, added to the familial support.
Amidst the days of relentless search on the admission list, Tahir faced the unsettling reality that his name eluded him. While the majority of his schoolmates celebrated acceptance, an unwelcome fear and disturbance gripped Tahir. His response was a retreat into isolation, confining himself within the walls of his room, distancing from both family and friends.
In the silent hours of a restless night, Tahir, consumed by uncertainty, found solace in browsing the internet. A mysterious email, titled 'Admission Request,' materialized on his screen, prompting a cautious click. The transition led him to a monochrome landscape adorned with enigmatic symbols and words.
In response to the mysterious prompt, Tahir cautiously created an account and logged in. Navigating through the obscure site, he discovered the enigmatic label, 'School of Arts and Science.' As the night unfolded, the labyrinth of information held him captive until slumber claimed him.
With the dawn of a new day, Tahir awoke in uncertainty, finding himself once more in the familiar confines of his room. Oblivious to the events that transpired after his descent into sleep, he engaged in the mundane rituals of morning, acknowledging the need for personal care and preparation for whatever awaited him beyond the realm of dreams.
At his computer, Tahir was drawn to an unexpected sight on the screen. Clicking the keys, he unveiled an admission letter from a University named the University of Art & Science. Bewilderment gripped him as he took a step back, then cautiously approached the screen again, questioning the legitimacy of this unexpected turn of events.
"What--,"
As Tahir wrestled with confusion, his mother's voice echoed from the stairs. He momentarily turned to respond, then back to the screen. To his astonishment, the admission letter had vanished. Desperate to retrace his steps, he scoured his browser history, finding no trace of the school site. Even a broader internet search yielded no results. The mysterious University of Art & Science seemed to elude digital existence.
Tahir's perplexity heightened as his printer unexpectedly sprang to life, churning out a tangible copy of the admission letter. Clutching the paper, he examined it closely, sensing a genuine quality that contrasted with the elusive digital nature of the university. The inexplicable events continued to weave a web of uncertainty around Tahir's newfound academic journey.
Tahir then goes down stairs with the letter at his hand to the breakfast table, were his parents and two siblings were taking their breakfast. He pulled a chair and sat with them on there dinning table, next to him was his sister Zairiya and the person that follows was their father Jamal, he passed the letter to his father and said,
"Baba, here,"
The father took the letter, before opening, the mother asked,
"What is it?" As she put some breakfast on a plate for him,
"I just got a scholarship,"
The whole table became surprised and excited for him,
"A scholarship?" His brother Asfar asked, looking amazed,
"Yes," Tahir said, then picked the food from his mother and placed it before him, "I just applied yesterday night, and today morning I saw the letter,"
"University of Art & Science? I never heard of it," said the father, then he passed it to the mother, "Where is this University located?"
"At the coast of Ridam. At least that's what it was written on their site,"
"Congratulations son, I'm so proud of you," said the mother,
"Thanks,"
Tahir doesn't look that excited, because he had prepared only for the NUT university, and when he wasn't admitted there, he was willing to go to any university he got.
As the breakfast went on for a while, the Family shared all they can, the played with each other, crack jokes and had their fun times.
