Cillian gripped the body tightly, close to himself, feeling how cold Kai's body was and how strongly he was hanging on to life. Kai looked exhausted, likely due to the open wound that relentlessly spilled blood.
The dim moonlight made it hard for Cillian to see just how grave the wound was.
"Kai, what happened?" he asked while feeling around the wound, coming into contact with the warm blood.
"The... the mission," Kai struggled to say, his breathing heavy and his voice thick with pain. "It was a failure."
Cillian knew about the mission but wasn't aware of the specifics. Based on the evidence in his arms, it had likely been particularly dangerous.
Cillian exhaled loudly. "Why aren't you healing?" He tried his hardest not to sound troubled, trying to maintain his composure.
This was his friend, someone who had shown him so much affection, and he couldn't bear to let him die.
"Green crystal," Kai muttered.
