In the early 21st century it was discovered that under the icy irradiated surface of Jupiter's moon Europa lies a vast sea sustaining microscopic life.
Decades later the first manned space flight to this moon was scheduled to land and verify the sea. The researchers not only discovered microbial life but complex hostile sub-aquatic fauna. Apart from the wildlife the researchers faced immeasurable difficulties posed by the dangerous radiation emitted from Jupiter and the intense cold and extreme pressure of the Europan ocean.
Despite their hardships, Earth-born colonists managed to construct a handful of habitable outposts where a new way of life developed over the course of many decades. During this time a new governance was formed by a coalition of the largest most influential cities on the moon.
Over the years the Europan society became more distant from Earth and around 50 years ago constant was lost entirely and no more supply ships have since been sent.
Due to the nature of these underwater outposts sub-aquatic travel and vehicles are the key to this society for scouting nee inhabitle locations, protecting citizens, and establishing new supply lines between stations as humanity ventures deeper to escape the harsh radiation emitted from Jupiter.
Submariners are the main method of travel between outposts and the life of a crewmember aboard one of these submarines is a lucrative one, although often dangerous and short.
I have decided to rise to the challenge and establish a crew of my own. With my newly bought Orca, a sub fitted with two coil guns and a depth charge launcher at Pastonia outpost the waters of Europa will open up for me to explore and expand the colonies.
