Her thoughts were interrupted by a soft knock at her door. "Suzanne?" Marcus's voice came from the other side. "It's me."
She hesitated before opening the door. Marcus stepped inside, his expression concerned.
"I saw Andrei," he said carefully. "You look like you've been through hell. Are you okay?"
Suzanne shook her head, unable to find the words.
Marcus sighed and sat down on the edge of the bed. "I warned you this wouldn't be easy. But you're stronger than you think. Andrei may have his flaws, but I believe he genuinely cares about you."
"Caring doesn't erase what he did," Suzanne said bitterly.
"No, it doesn't," Marcus agreed. "But it does mean he's willing to make amends. The question is, are you willing to let him?"
Suzanne didn't answer. She wasn't sure she knew the answer herself.
