As she left the room, her resolve hardened. Andrei might have answers, but he wasn't going to give them up willingly. She would have to find them herself—even if it meant going straight to Viktoria. Suzanne sat in the café long after Viktoria had left, replaying every word of their conversation in her mind. Andrei had loved Diana. That single revelation unraveled so much of what Suzanne thought she knew about him. It explained his secrecy, his guilt, and the way he'd always seemed to carry an invisible weight on his shoulders. But it didn't explain the lies.
Why hadn't he told her the truth from the start? What was he so afraid of her discovering?
Her thoughts were interrupted by the buzzing of her phone. She glanced down to see Marcus's name flashing on the screen.
"Did you meet her?" he asked as soon as she answered.
"Yes," Suzanne said, her voice barely above a whisper. "She confirmed that Andrei knew Diana. He loved her."
