Suzanne stiffened. "That's impossible. He has to be involved. The pendant, the letters—it's all connected to her death."
Marcus shrugged slightly, his expression guarded. "If it is, he's covered his tracks well. There's no mention of your sister in any of the data we've intercepted. Everything points to him protecting the broader operation, not anything personal."
The room fell silent. Suzanne's chest tightened, frustration and doubt warring within her. "Then why did she have the pendant?" she demanded, her voice rising. "Why was she looking into all of this if it wasn't connected to him?"
Andrei's jaw tightened as he placed a hand on her shoulder, trying to ground her. "We'll keep digging. This isn't over yet."
But Suzanne shook her head, standing abruptly and pacing the room. "No, it doesn't make sense. I know I'm right. She found something, something important, and now we're so close."
