"You did well tonight," he said, his voice low.
"Thanks," Suzanne replied, her voice barely above a whisper.
They stood there for a moment, an awkward silence hanging between them. Andrei's gaze flicked to her face, his eyes intense, like he was searching for something—maybe an answer he didn't know how to ask.
Suzanne looked away first, her thoughts still racing. Was Andrei hiding something about Diana? About Leah? Every time she thought she was getting closer, the truth slipped further out of reach. The more Andrei tried to steer her away from certain questions, the more determined she became to find the answers.
"I should get back to the house," she said, forcing a smile. "I need to process everything that happened tonight."
Andrei nodded, his jaw tight. "I'll join you in a bit."
But as Suzanne turned to leave, her phone buzzed, pulling her attention away from Andrei. The message on her screen was from Marcus.
