Before I could ask what I should do, Pond handed me a small drawstring bag.
"This is your living expenses for a while."
When I took it, it felt heavy in my hand, but not so much that it was a burden to carry. From its weight, I understood it wasn't an excessively large amount.
"It's enough to cover food, laundry, and a bath for ten nights, plus daily necessities like clothes and medicine. It's more than enough for a comfortable stay. If you need more, I'll give you additional funds when I come to get you. Just let me know."
Come to get me? Is Pond not staying with me?
Before I could ask, Pond returned to the driver's seat.
"Well then, Lord Lai, see you in ten days."
"Wait, hold on!"
My shout was drowned out by the neighing of horses, and Pond left without looking back.
Oh well, there's nothing I can do about it. Anyway, I should go inside. It seems like I'm supposed to stay here for about ten days.
