Chapter 4 - CP: 4 - Grimoire [1/2]

After passing through the portal, Lucas found himself in a graveyard. The surroundings were dark, but a dim light illuminated the graves.

Each grave had different symbols on them. Was there a pattern to these symbols?

Lucas didn't have time to ponder on that. Right now, he was just praying that no zombies would emerge from the graves.

*MDamn it!

Lucas's greatest fear was death. This graveyard had made his fear of death palpable to the core.

Moreover, the likelihood of fighting zombies was almost zero. After passing through UH 001, all their equipment had disappeared. Now he only had his everyday clothes on.

Before exploring the area, Lucas waited for a while. He had thought that others would also come here. But no one had arrived no matter how long he waited.

I should stay calm... If no one has come so far, there could be two reasons. Either the portal has closed, or the portal has teleported others to a different location.

Lucas's guess was correct. The others had already been teleported to different locations. They had started testing in various different places. Some had even completed their tests.

Finally, Lucas began to move. Although he felt that there would be traps around, Lucas felt he had to take risks.

This seems like a cave with no way out.

He had explored the surroundings thoroughly. Lucas was currently trapped in a strange place. He couldn't get out of this large Graveyard Area because of something strange. These graves were surrounded by walls.

Lucas turned towards the graves. He started examining each grave one by one. He had checked all the graves here one by one.

Some graves had skull symbols on them. Other graves had symbols like a sword, a bow, an apple, and a few other symbols that Lucas couldn't understand.

What's this light?

But one grave was shining brighter as Lucas approached it. This interesting grave had caught Lucas's attention. Lucas carefully examined the tombstone.

"Is there no symbol on this stone?"

Lucas couldn't see any symbol on this tombstone. Despite checking the tombstone and its surroundings several times, there was no symbol.

While all this was happening, the tombstone was still shining. There were a total of 2005 graves here. But among all the other graves, the first grave that caught Lucas's attention was this glowing grave.

Lucas had an interesting idea about this grave. He slowly started wiping the dusty tombstone with his hand.

What's this?

When Lucas touched the tombstone, a book emerged from the grave. The book had several symbols on it. There were many things among the symbols.

It looks like magical books. It might show me how to get out of here!

Lucas grabbed the floating book in the air. When he opened the book, a red worm jumped out of it.

He tried to fight the worm. But the tiny worm was stronger than the pitiful Lucas.

"AAGHGHHHHH!!" Lucas's screams of pain echoed.

The worm had torn out Lucas's eye. It had eaten his eye completely. Although Lucas tried to tear the worm apart, the worm regenerated itself very quickly.

"NO!!!"

Eventually, the worm had completely torn apart and eaten Lucas's eye. Lucas could feel the worm slowly moving towards his brain.

Lucas tried to kill the worm by putting his hand into the eye socket. But this only increased his pain.

Lucas was smashing his head on the ground, hoping the worm would die. But despite everything, the worm continued to gnaw at him from the inside.

Lucas being eaten alive... He was now paralyzed. He couldn't move or scream. Now he could only use his right eye.

Deep down, he felt sorry for himself. Lucas had so many things he wanted to try... But like an idiot, he had passed through that portal.

At that moment, the cover of the book opened again. Many worms emerged from the book and headed towards Lucas.

Lucas could see the worms eating him with his right eye. But he had lost his senses due to paralysis. He no longer felt pain. Lucas's brain had finally stopped working.

Is this what death is like? Lucas was relieved that death was faster than he had thought. His pains had finally ended. But he still felt the deep sorrow in his soul.

He had always been alienated from other people. His classmates were only classmates "in class." He had no one around him whom he could call family.

And those people he hated... The cold faces of government officials... Lucas had always hated them. All he wanted was a normal life...
