Chapter 34 - First Mission

"Alright let's do this!" With a resounding voice, Micheal exclaimed. The trio set out on their quest which could be seen as the first assignment of Abigail and Rai since becoming Essenmages.

"Where are we even going?" Abigail posed an obvious question, Micheal had completely forgotten to inform his teammates on the details of the quest.

"Ah, I knew I forgot something. Well the details of the mission are all vague, for some reason the creator of this quest wants to keep things confidential. All that we've been given is the location. Its located in the Rikuru district." Michael replied as he gently folded the paper in his hands.

"Confidential? Why?" Abigail asked.

"Who knows, maybe some people are too shy or they feel embarrassed with what they need help with. Nonetheless it's not an issue for us, the simpler it gets the more easier we'll be able to execute the quest and accumulate points. After all its a D- Rank quest." Micheal replied.

The quests distributed to all Essenguilds were all seperated from each other based on their level of difficulty. It ranged from E- Rank to SS- Rank quests, E- Rank quests were mainly used for beginner's in the guild. It was a way for newly swore in Essenmages to gain experience in terms of growth. SS- Rank quests are the considered the hardest amongst all.

Naturally it was impossible for anyone to complete, the only individuals that stood a chance in completing an SS- Rank quests were Essenmages that fell in the ranks of a knight. Even the heads of each Essenguilds would have major difficulties completing them.

"What do you think Rai Voltia?" Abigail focused her attention on Rai.

"Huh?" He mumbled, he hasn't been paying attention all this while so he had little to no idea what they were talking about.

"Well, everything's happening so fast. I mean we haven't even gotten the chance to know our other guild mates and we are already out on a quest." He replied.

"Huh." Abigail mumbled highly confused.

"What the hell are you talking about you idiot?" Michael said as he leaned forward and stared at Rai. "Man, this is how people die young. You weren't even listening!" He added.

"Sometimes both your stupidity and abilities amazes me Rai Voltia." Abigail sighed.

"What's with the full name call? You can just call me Rai you know." Rai addressed the issue, slightly annoyed with the way Abigail calls him.

"You dare say I should call you by your first name? That would imply that we are friends which we are not." Abigail said plainly, causing Michael to burst out in laughter a bit but he was quick to control it.

"Wait wait wait, it's okay for me to address you by your first name but you can't address me by my first name?" Rai questioned, her idealogy becoming more and more disturbing.

"Yes, precisely." She answered.

"Oh give me a break." He sighed out loud as he couldn't put up with it any much longer, it didn't take much time for them to arrive at a carriage which would transport them to the Rikuru district.

It took at least two hours for them to arrive at the Rikuru district, the Rikuri district is a town situated in the heart of the Ronowa Empire. It became one of the most popular towns in the kingdom for one main reason, it was the battleground where humanity had attained it's first victory over the paradoxes.

It was the foundation for all Essenguilds and the location of the legendary Fireheart guild which currently has been disbanded, however it's structure was converted into a museum. A museum where the history of essence and humanities first encounter with these dimensional beings were displayed.

The three individuals highlighted the carriage the moment it arrived at the Rikuru district. Micheal and Rai were both marveled by this city of legends. In the middle of town stood a giant statue constructed completely out of gold, that statue was built in the honor of sir Lucious the1st.

Lucious was the man who led the Essenmages to victory in their first win against the paradoxes, and he was also the first captain of the Fireheart guild.

"I just realized, this town is majorly dominated by nobles right? So your telling me that the creator of this quest is a noble?" Rai came to a realization swiftly, if indeed it was a noble that made arrangements for this quest to be prepared it was quite problematic.

"Don't worry too much about it, we've got the princess of the Ronowa Empire with us. It'll be a walk in the park." Michael assured him as they approached the location of the creator of the quest.

"Oh you have got to be kidding me." Rai said as the three individuals stood in front of a large mansion with gold encrusted decor surrounding the pillars that held it.

"Right.... you're up princess." Both Michael and Rai took a step backwards leaving Abigail a bit forward. Both of them understood immediately just by looking at the mansion that it was out of their league. Whoever owned such a property must be someone of very high importance, therefore proper etiquette and manners were required but both boys possessed none.

"Good grief." Abigail sighed in disappointment as she approached the gates of the mansion and pushed the doorbell. It didn't take up to two minutes for a response to come back to them.

"Identify yourself." A female voice echoed from an inbuilt speaker that resided within the walls of the mansion.

"Princess Abigail of the Raging Phoenix.." Abigail replied. A brief moment of silent ensued and without a warning, the heavy iron gates began to stir, emitting a low mechanical hum. With a series of synchronized clicks and whirs, the gates slowly swing open, revealing the grandeur of the estate beyond.

"Well, I guess this is it." Michael said as he walked into the compound of the mansion, the two following from behind. Truly it was a blessing to have the princess on their side, they most likely wouldn't have gotten this far.
