Chapter 2 - Lies and Deceit

Rai had been maltreated enough, the history behind his joint bullying was because of the fact that his father never loved him or his mother. Nick married his mother in order to end the dispute between the Voltia and another neighbouring assassin clan.

As a sign of peace and a truce, around that time the two leader's of the respective clans offered their first child in marriage as a symbol of the two clan's prosperity. Nick was forced to marry her as he was the first child of his father. Irritated with the burden placed on his shoulder, he ended up marrying the love of his life years later giving birth to his younger son and prodigy, Tai.

A few years later, Rai's mother passed away leaving his life in the hands of the very people who despised his existence. Ever since he had been abused, insulted and disgraced. However he chose not to give up, he worked his butt off in order to gain his father's recognition but it was of no use.

Rai packed up the remaining property he had left which was given to him by his late mother, the young assassin possessed blue crystal eyes, white silky hair and a pale skin. He waited till midnight before sneaking out of the mansion.

"I'm sorry mom." Rai spoke softly with tears rolling down his cheeks.

He began having flashbacks of his mother's last word's to him before she passed away, she told him " Stay strong no matter what happens my little assassin, fight and surpress those emotions. That is the true trait an assassin is to possess, however to be such an assassin is to not be a human anymore and I didn't raise you to become a monster now did I?" With those final words, he never from her ever again.

He wiped his tears off swiftly and jumped down from his window, after landing safely and quietly on the grass. He sped off instantly, he ran away from the Voltia clan as that was the only way to ensure his continued existence.

Several hours had passed since the eldest child of Nick Voltia ran away from home, Tai woke his father up having realized Rai hadn't completed his daily task.

"Father, why is the training hall still a mess? I thought Rai was supposed to have cleaned it by now?" Tai asked.

Nick tasked Rai with the cleaning of each and every single room in the large mansion every single day as a display of his hatred towards him. However Rai refused to give up, therefore he worked hard in other to accomplish the task till today.

"That useless son of a-, bring him to me now!" He ordered Tai.

After sweeping the whole mansion to find Rai, Tai realized he was nowhere to be found."Father I couldn't find him." He came back to give his report.

"What!?" Nick exclaimed.

"What do you mean you can't find him?" In a fit of rage, Nick stormed into the small quarters he assigned to Rai and found it completely empty.

"It can't be!" Tai yelled from behind taken aback by what he laid his eyes upon.

"That bastard, ran away?" Nick questioned staring into the empty room.

"Tch." He grunted and began laughing sinisterly, he immediately turned to face Tak with a smile on his face.

"Go! Find him!." He ordered.

Tai bowed in respect to the orders given by the head of the clan. "I'll bring him back as soon as I find him." He responded.

"No." Nick replied swiftly staring into the empty room once again.

"Bring back his head and nothing else." He ordered for his execution.

Tai's eyes widened in surprise, he immediately raised his head to face his father on hearing such orders. "But father isn't that too much?" He responded to his orders.

"Do I detect, disapproval?" Nick questioned turning his neck to face Tai.

"No I'd never, I'll bring back the head of Rai at all cost." With those words, Tai vanished utilizing his speed to leave the mansion.

"Finally, I'll be rid of that nuisance once and for all." Nick spoke to himself with a sinister smile all over his face.

[A few hours later]

Rai had already left the city of Rengkok in the few hours his disappearance had not been discovered yet, he initially assumed he was in the clear. That was until he felt a disturbance in the wind. He felt a force that was strong enough to disrupt the wind pressure around him.

His eyes widened on realization, swiftly he turned around and was met with a powerful kick to his lower jaw.

"Argh!" He groaned as he crashed into the ground, standing in front of him was Tai who had managed to catch up to him.

"Assassins code 23, You're never safe till the moment of your death. Did you forget that and become relaxed because you left the city? Not to mention tracking you was somewhat child's play." Tai stated.

"Argh, what the hell do you want!?" Rai yelled from the ground.

"Your execution has been ordered ex convict Rai, I'll be taking your head." Tai said simply.

Rai became perplexed, there was no rule that ordered for the execution of an assassin who ran away from the clan, only solitary confinement could be issued as the secrets of the clan could be exposed.

"And your okay with that? Little brother?" Rai spoke softly getting up to his feet.

"Huh?" Tai scoffed before propelling himself with his right foot towards Rai, in defense Rai crouched swiftly before extending and rotating his right leg forward clockwise to perform an underleg sweep the instant Tai got into range.

Tai instinctively performed a Russian frontflip over Rai, he landed on his arms and tilted his body before dropping his right leg towards the head of Rai. Realizing the danger his leg represented, Rai placed his hands on the ground and catapulted his body forward to evade the kick.

As Tai's leg made contact with the ground, it shattered sending debris of rocks all around him and a cloud of dust emerged. This feat proved he had truly inherited his father's prowess.

Before Rai could even land on his feet, Tai appeared in front of showing the vast difference in their speed and grabbed him by his face. "Even your attacks are pitiful." Tai scoffed.

He threw Rai through a wall and maintained his stance.

"D-damn it.." Rai groaned getting up to his right knee. "Just because I ran away you all already decided to kill me!? Your own blood!? Even after everything you've done!?" Rai exclaimed with tears once more in his eyes.

"Please, we never considered you a member of our family, just like we never considered that wretched mother of yours a member of our family as well, that's why we killed her." Tai spoke with utter hate in his voice.

On hearing the cause of death of his mother, everything became mute to Rai. "What did you just say?" He asked with a wavering voice.
