Chapter 17 - Nagi’s First Service

After school the next day, Nagi was walking alone towards the Service Club.

Satania and Hitori had already left together, leaving him alone.

He went to Eriri's classroom door today and planned to call her out, but he didn't get a response from her.

Nagi was used to it, he had tried it many times, but Eriri always avoided him.

He sighed. He thought about cornering her.

But he didn't want to bother her, so he decided to think of another way.

After visiting the park with Mahiru last night, Nagi went home and wasn't invited by Gabriel to play games.

He was slightly surprised, but he also knew that Gabriel was sometimes very busy.

Nagi didn't pay much attention to it at first, but today when Gabriel was a bit cold towards him. He wondered if she was angry because he didn't help her game character escape from the grip of a giant octopus.

Nagi opened the door and greeted everyone one by one.

"Ahem, Nagi, did you call me by mistake?"

Satania's seat position changed again, moving to the side near the blackboard and facing them.

This position made her look like a teacher imparting knowledge, but also like a sinner being judged by everyone.

"President Satania!"

"Well then, let's start today's discussion." Satania folded her hands on her chest, closed her eyes, and nodded.

"President, is there anything you want to say?" Yukino's eyes didn't leave her book.

"...Uh... Yes... New commission!!"

Hiratsuka opened the door and entered with a girl, reducing Satania's embarrassment.

After looking at everyone, Hiratsuka nodded, "It seems the first winner has been born. Too bad, Yukinoshita."

"You don't have to worry, Hiratsuka-sensei." Yukino finally turned to them, specifically to the girl.

Yukino remembered the faces and names of most of her classmates at school; she was a girl balanced in all aspects.

"Satania, hand over your position. Then, Maehara, I won't interrupt your story."

Hiratsuka lifted Satania from her seat and left the Service Club.

Satania was a little angry, but obediently walked back to stand next to Nagi and Hitori.

Maehara sat in the chair, her eyes red, and she had clearly just cried.

She looked at the other Service Club members nervously, then spoke.

"My name is Maehara Yui. I'm a little troubled. I came here on Hiratsuka-sensei's advice."

"Maehara-san, what help do you need from us?" Yukino assumed the posture of a president.

"My good friend, Nobuko Iida, has been ignoring me lately... She talks happily with classmates around me, but she doesn't talk to me..."

"Oh, that's how good friends are. Friends tend to break up over trivial things." Hachiman said with a annoyed expression.

Yukino frowned slightly. She didn't agree with that statement.

"Maehara-san, don't pay too much attention to Hikigaya-kun's words. The Service Club is here to help students solve their problems. You tell us your specific situation, and we will try our best to help you." She said gently.

Maehara looked at Yukino gratefully, "Actually, this isn't a big deal. Last week, Nobuko and I went to a dessert shop. Nobuko ordered chocolate ice cream, and I ordered strawberry ice cream. When the waiter brought the ice cream, I noticed that my ice cream had black spots and didn't look fresh. I reported this problem to the waiter, but the waiter was too busy and didn't have time to pay attention to me."

"Is that the new shop next to the school? I think the staff there are pretty good." Satania chimed in to show off her intelligence.

Yukino glared at her, then signaled for Maehara to continue.

"Nobuko saw this and jokingly said to me, 'Looks like you're out of luck, next time please order the same as me.' I was a little unhappy at that time, and became even more angry when I heard this. I felt Nobuko was laughing at me, so I argued with her. I regretted it when I got home... I regretted it so much..."

After saying this, Maehara couldn't hold back her tears.

Yukino gently patted her shoulder to express her comfort. Misunderstandings and arguments often make people feel frustrated and lost.

"Maehara-san, don't be too sad. This situation is very common. As long as you can sit down and talk properly, I'm sure the problem will be resolved." Yukino said gently.

"But it's all my fault! I feel so guilty. I shouldn't have been angry with Nobuko at that time... She was clearly trying to cheer me up..."

Hachiman also realized that his previous statement might have been a bit excessive, so he added.

"Maehara. What I said earlier may have been a bit exaggerated. In fact, I have had disagreements with my friends (Elementary school) over trivial things. But then we made up (surface level). So don't worry too much."

Nagi continued to ask, "Did you take the initiative to talk to her and she ignored you?"

Maehara nodded and said while crying, "Yes, since that argument, no matter how I take the initiative to talk to her, she ignores me."

Nagi fell silent for a moment then said, "Maehara-san, the misunderstanding between you may be quite deep. Since Iida-san is ignoring you directly, how about writing an apology letter?"

"Nanaba-kun, why don't you suggest her to tell her through the phone?" Hitori asked in a low voice.

"Goto-san, a formal apology letter will be more effective. Besides, she may be blocked by Iida-san."

Nagi explained gently that Hitori lacked understanding of how friends interact with each other.

Upon first seeing Hitori, Nagi felt her social phobia was too serious.

He might be a little arrogant, but his goal was to make Hitori a normal high school girl.

Maehara nodded gratefully to Nagi, but she said a little worriedly, "Thank you, Nanaba-kun, for your advice, I will seriously consider writing an apology letter. I just don't know how to write it, I'm worried I won't write it well..."

Nagi reassured her, "It's okay, Maehara-san, just write down your true thoughts and feelings when writing the letter. There's no need for overly fancy language, sincerity is the most important."

Mahiru also nodded in agreement, "Yes, Maehara-san, we will all help you, don't worry."

"One more thing, who should deliver the letter to Iida-san? Maehara-san, do you have any classmates between you and her whom you can talk to?"

Yukino also patched the gap in the plan. If Maehara handed it to Nobuko herself, there was a possibility that she wouldn't get a response.
