A beautiful morning could be waking up to the sound of birds chirping, feeling the warmth of the sun on your face, and enjoying a delicious breakfast with loved ones. It would be a peaceful and serene start to the day.
But wait,
Serene morning is not for me.
It's around six in morning, a beam of sunlight just touched my face.
Exhaustion from last night was completely gone with my sleep.
It's was pleasant morning but even more pleasant cause I can't hear Sumo's unbearable talk that begins in morning and last until the sun dies.
I woke up from my bed and looked around.
Mess I created last night is all cleaned up and a tub of hot water to wash up is already set.
I took a peaceful bath and put my clothes on.
I know, no matter what I wear,
I look elegent but have no elegance.
I look classy but have low profile.
I look expensive but wore none.
I look girly but isn't one.
Yes, you guessed it right.
Being a part of noble family indeed means to look soft and elegent as a daughter but personally I prefer having pulled back hairs instead of open hair.
I prefer nude shades instead of thousands of shade.
I prefer bare face instead of make up.
Yet I still manage to look elegent in powerful way.
I believe, anything that makes you comfortable, make you look more powerful and carefree.
But, now I'm worried. Why is my morning soo good today?
I woke up, I had my bath and got dressed up yet Sumo is no where to be seen.
I steped out to of my room to look around.
"Aunt lu! Aunt lu!...."
"Yes, my lady."
"Aunt lu, how many time you gonna call me 'lady'. Just call me Mulan."
"How could I call you by that, you are Daughter of Baron and I'm just a lowly maid."
"I won't accept it next time...in any condition.....oh! I forget, I was looking for Sumo. Did you see her anywhere?"
"She went to market. I send her early to shop somethings."
"Thats good then. By the way, Aunt lu I'm heading out to court for sometime. Max will drop me there."
Speaking of which, I'm actually a first female detective in Mun dynasty.
It all started when Baron Li died.
Two years back from now, He retired from the post of General.
On his way back here, he was assassinated but sadly, I witnessed it all.
Nonetheless, My statement was neglected because I wasn't found at the crime scene but in my own room next day. Traveling from there to mansion back in just two hours was hard to prove my statement. They believed I'm just making the things up.
Moreover, I didn't have anything to prove my statement.
All I remember from that night is being knocked out at the spot of crime and waking up in mansion.
Since then, I decided to become a investigator. Not soley to investigate Baron Li's case instead get justice for others too.
I did gave imperial exam and secured the top rank. And ended up becoming investigator at Imperial crime and security bureau.
I step out of the mansion, the sunlight hitting my face as I enter the bustling streets of the market. The air is filled with the aroma of freshly baked bread and the sounds of vendors calling out their goods. As I walk through the colorful stalls, I can't help but feel a sense of freedom and joy. You see, I've always preferred this simple life over the constraints of being part of a royal family. Here, in the market, I can connect with people from all walks of life, hear their stories, and truly experience the beauty of humanity. It's a refreshing escape from the expectations and responsibilities that come with royalty.
As I wounder freely on street, Max called my name 'Mulan' across the crowd.
Though, he is my bodyguard but we are closest to each other.
He calls me 'lady' and 'Mulan' depending on my mood or conversation we are going to have in few minutes ahead.
He could read my mind like an open book.
After I escape brothel, I was beaten by few thugs on street for money but I wasn't alone. Max was beaten too. After, I was taken by Baron Li. I request him to save Max.
After his excape, Baron Li taught nine years old Max as professional
assassin, trained fighter, Martial artist and espionage agent.
He trained him to kill anyone ruthlessly.
And let him be my bodyguard.
Though he actually become ruthless and cold person but he actually have a soft corner for me in his heart.
He knows me best and I believe him most.
We are closer than just being master and servant.
Anyways, I actually like it's when he calls my name openly as friends.
I rushed through the crowd to reach him but ended up colliding with a young gentleman.
In that split second,
time seemed to freeze as his strong arms instinctively caught me, holding me close.
He has unexpectedly handsome looks.
He has well sculptured jawline and face features, flawlessly clear skin but he has serious and cold looks in his eyes.
The moment our eyes meet, wave of memories crashed over me, transporting me back to the night when Baron Li met his ultimate end. The haunting image of those same piercing, cold and seroius eyes flooded my mind, sending a shiver down my spine.
But as quickly as the flashback came, it dissipated. As soon as I regained my composure I pushed him away. I hate those eyes. They may good to others but not for me. I have been facing these eyes each night in my nightmares.
The young man released his grip and walked away.
However, there is something to his presence.
His scent!!!!!!
His scent felt soo familiar to me. As if I have smelled it thousands of time everyday. I couldn't help but keep my gaze fixed at him as he walks down the street.
It's strange but Why is my body burning from where he touched?
Many questions kept racing through my brainbox.
Who is he? Why do his eyes look identical to the person from that night?
Why does he smell so familiar?
Does we know each other? Or Do we have something to do with each other?
Now that I have flashbacks of that night this pleasant morning ends here.
