Chapter 29 - SECRET ADMIRER

It was a cold morning, the rain had descended on the earth last night and it's still threatens to pour. Mirabel woke up from sleep with a tired yawn, she looked at the alarm clock on top her reading table, with annoyance she groaned.

"This stupid clock, today of all days you decide not to work uh. Oh my gosh I'm so f*cking tired…she stretched herself . Do I have to go to school? Why are we even made to go to school? Gosh…this life is so annoying! On a cold morning like this we should be relaxed at home laying on your bed sipping tea or…coffee, coffee is best" she smiled at the thing of it.

"Come on you slumber you're running late" someone said and she turned towards the direction of the voice. Mom…? When…did you get here?".

"While you were busy slumbering, her mom replied her with an amused look, so you really don't know when I came here? How can you sleep like a log of wood not knowing what's happening around you" her mom folded her hands giving her a hard glare.

"Mom…the rain was so heavy last night and that made me had a heavy sleep, I usually don't sleep so deep " she twisted her lip in a silly way.

"Hmm her mom sighed, better be . Now will you get your ass outta that bed and come join me prepare breakfast " she ordered.

"Alright lemme wash my face" she climbed out of the bed and headed to the bathroom.

Five minutes later she found herself in the kitchen .

"What are you making for breakfast?" She asked expectantly.

"We're having baked sweet potato with peanut butter and sliced apples " her rice mom smiled.

"I like it best with raisins " she happily said.

"I knew you were gonna love it, not hot coffee on your bed "her mom said with a sarcastic tone.

"Mom…she gasped, don't tell me you heard everything I said".

"Everything like ? I only heard a bit, I wasn't concentrating in the gibberish you were saying. You don't like school?" Her mom asked on a more serious tone.

"Come on mom you did heard everything, if not why this question about me not liking school?" She crossed her hands.

"I only heard all that you said when I was a there…is there anything you don't want me to know?" She asked as she peeled the potatoes.

"No…no" she rubbed her eyes.

"You're sure?" Her mom asked with a suspicious smile.

"Yes mom ,there's nothing I do tell you everything ".

"Now tell me,her mom said facing her. You're still feeling sleepy?".

"No…" she rubbed still rubbing her eyes.

"No…?" She asked with a giggle.

"Mom… you know I don't like waking up so early " she muttered.

"It's not so early…the time is already up to 7:00am " her mom narrowed her brows.

"And you're still home…? She asked with great shock. I can't believe it ".

"Go check for yourself " her mom laughed.

Just then her dad walked in with Miranda who was holding a bottle of milk.

"The delivery came pretty late today" her dad said.

"Morning dad" she hugged him.

"Tsk her mom sucked her teeth. I didn't get a hug "she pouted.

"You can always get a hug from me momma, Miranda smiled and gave her a hug.

"Hehe their mom laughed.thanks hon,she patted her gold colored hair.

I guess it's because of the rain last night " she replied her husband.

"Yeah sure is, he said taking an Apple from the fruit basket ".

"Is today Saturday?" Mirabel asked more to herself.

"Nope" they all replied.

"Then why are you guys still at home and not at work?" She asked confusingly.

"You didn't hear the news?" Her dad asked with curiosity .

"What news?" She asked in return staring at them all.

"Last night rain caused a little bit of havoc in some areas, and the rain is still threatening to fall so…the government advises everyone to stay home for now " her dad explained.

"You call the flooding of houses and the life which was lost a little bit of havoc?

My sister lost their home to the flood and you call that small Mr.Morries?" Her mom cried.

"Jeez mom…and I didn't know about this? Where's she gonna stay now?" Mirabel asked with concern laced in her tone.

"We've invited her over to stay with us until she gets back on her feet " her mom replied wiping the trace of tears off her face.

"That's okay mom, it's gonna be fine" she consoled her mom giving her a reassuring hug.

"It's okay mi love their dad smiled , Madeline is a strong woman she's gonna be okay " he drew Miranda closer for a family hug.

"She really is…a strong woman Mabel

Laughed. You know when her husband left her with little Bella I was so scared on how she was gonna cope, but see her today she's even more better than when she was still married ".

"You both are a unique breed of a woman their dad said holding her waist, I still wonder why Nathan left ,it still baffles me,Maddy is such a pretty and a hardworking woman but..one can never really understand the reason for their divorce, unlike our neighbors" he rolled his eyes.

"What do you mean by that Morry?" She crossed her hands giving him a hard glare.

"Come on we all knew there wasn't really a trace of genuine love between the both of them, they were only married for convenience huh".

"Hmm Mabel sighed, kinda true but I know Mrs Adams later came to love him but…that guy wasn't the love kind of guy" Mabel said with a bit of sympathy.

"An Apple never really falls far from its tree" Mirabel mumbled.

"Yeah…you're right that's way I'm looking out for you hon, I don't want you to get a heartbreak" her mom gave her a sad look.

"Have you told him about your feelings ?" Her dad asked with curiosity.

"No…I can't do that, my pride wouldn't let me" she arched her brow.

"Yeah that's great, one thing you must know about guys is that they don't value ladies who throw themselves at them, I'm a guy I know that" her dad patted her hair.

"Thanks dad" she smiled .

"And it seems you have a secret admirer " he said with a sarcastic voice.

"Secret admirer?" She asked dumbfounded.
