Chapter 41 - The Ture Map

"I know, I understand." The old hunter kept bowing his head. "Please, my lord Ascender, allow me to go back and fetch paper and pen."

"No need," Aidan waved his hand, looking at the two young hunters who had come to intimidate. He commanded, "You two, go inside the house and bring out paper and pen for me."

"Yes, my lord." The two young men trembled and, under Aidan's intimidation, dared not resist.

"The paper and pen are on the square table in the kitchen, my lord," the old man added from the side.

Aidan's eyes flickered faintly, but he did not say anything.

...

...

...

The two hunters rushed into the wooden house and soon came out with paper and pen in hand.

The old man knelt down, holding the pen, and drew black lines on the paper, some curved, some straight. He drew more than a dozen sheets of paper. After a moment, he handed these papers to Aidan.

Aidan quickly glanced at them, then divided the papers into two piles and handed them to the two young hunters. "Take a look, see if there's anything wrong. For every mistake you find, I'll reward you with a piece of Gems!" The two young hunters held the bamboo paper, their hands trembling, their eyes shining faintly.

"This is the lifetime experience and effort of the 'Hunter King.' Among us hunters, although we exchange information, we only share the locations of traps, not the distribution of beasts. What's on these bamboo papers is the information accumulated by the 'Hunter King' from his ancestors."

"So there's a group of wild deer in this forest, haha, I kill this group of deer, and I won't worry about food and drink for at least three months! Ah, there are bears near this stream? That's dangerous. I hunted near here last time. Note it down, all must be noted!"

This precious information can be said to be the hunter's livelihood! It is often not just a generation, but the experience accumulated by ancestors and fathers with blood and life.

And the old man's family has always lived by hunting. When it comes to the old man, he is recognized as the number one hunter.

The information in the hands of such a person is naturally the most detailed.

The two young hunters looked at it for half an hour, repeatedly looking at it several times, until Aidan urged them, they reluctantly returned the paper.

During this period, the old man knelt on the ground, his forehead touching the ground, showing respect. The girl was still lying on the ground, looking dumbfounded.

"No problem, my lord."

"The trap positions on this paper are all correct."

The two replied.

"My lord, this concerns the lives of myself and my daughter. I absolutely dare not deceive you!" The old man on the ground quickly shouted, continuously kowtowing to Aidan.

"Well, not bad." Aidan shook the stack of bamboo paper in his hand and suddenly changed the subject, "But!

" I don't believe you!!!"

Like being electrocuted, the old man suddenly raised his head and saw a gaping mouth rushing towards him!

With a sound, blood splattered from the old man's neck, staining the fur of the giant wolf red.

"Ah!!!"

"My lord, why...??"

The two young hunters were caught off guard by this sudden change, their faces full of shock.

"Dad—!" The girl let out a piercing scream, seemingly losing her fear of the giant wolf, and rushed towards the old man's body, disregarding everything else.

The giant wolf released the old man from its mouth, its amber pupils reflecting the girl's face up close. Then the giant wolf opened its mouth again and bit towards the girl's neck.

Moments later, the girl fell to the ground, lifeless.

Under her beautiful face, her neck bore two large holes.

Blood sprayed out around her like a radiating burst, painting the entire ground crimson.

Without even looking at her body, Aidan turned and looked at the remaining two young hunters.

"My lord, spare us!" One of the hunters, seeing Aidan turn to them, was almost scared out of his wits, and fell to his knees.

"Get up, both of you, go inside, search!" Aidan said coldly. "I know that every hunter's house has a map made of animal skin. It shows the terrain, trap locations, and the distribution of beasts. Find it for me, and I'll spare your lives."

"Yes, yes, yes, we'll go search now. My lord, please wait a moment!" The two men scrambled to their feet, stumbling into the wooden house.

Soon, there was a sound of rummaging through the boxes and cabinets in the house.

But after a while, the two young men had searched the house thoroughly and found no animal skin map.

"My lord, please wait a little longer, we'll find it soon!" The two young men's faces were full of fear and panic. They became more and more rough in their actions, smashing tables, bowls, and other things.

"Where the hell is it?"

"Come out, come out quickly!"

They muttered to themselves, trembling with fear, their eyes bloodshot.

"Useless." Aidan walked slowly into the house.

"My lord! My lord! Spare us, please, wuwuwu..." The two young men trembled violently, as if they had been electrocuted, and fell to the ground, crying and begging to Aidan.

Aidan ignored the two kneeling on the ground and instead surveyed the house.

The wooden house was divided into four bedrooms, a hall, and a kitchen. All the furniture and furnishings were piled up haphazardly, as if they had been ransacked.

Aidan slowly paced, his footsteps making a light thud on the wooden floor.

"It has indeed been searched through, but it shouldn't be like this. Almost every hunter has an animal skin map, passed down from generation to generation, constantly modified and recorded with the distribution of beasts and trap placements. This is the hunter's livelihood. How could it be missing?"

Aidan's eyes were deep in thought. "Moreover, I just tested the old man, deliberately letting these two young hunters into the house to search for paper and pens. The old man immediately pointed out the location of the paper and pens. He should be worried that these two would find the animal skin map. The animal skin map must be in this wooden house!"

Aidan scanned the room and suddenly had a flash of inspiration, his gaze fixed on the fireplace in the hall.

The fireplace was connected to a chimney and used for heating in the autumn and winter. There were some leftover black charcoal pieces in the fireplace.

Aidan walked to the fireplace, squatted down slowly, and picked up a pair of iron tongs leaning against the fireplace. He flipped over the black charcoal pieces, most of which still retained the shape of wood, were very brittle, and broke into two pieces with a little force.

"Mmee?" After inspecting it, Aidan suddenly found one charcoal piece that was very hard and heavy, unlike the others which were light.

He used the tongs to extract this long piece of charcoal, dropped it on the ground, and the surface immediately shattered into countless black fragments, revealing a bamboo tube inside.

Upon seeing this, the two young hunters both let out a low exclamation.

Aidan picked up the bamboo tube, found the cap at one end, and opened it. With a slight tilt, a map poured out from inside.

This map was much heavier than the stack of bamboo papers, made from a white animal skin. The animal skin map was large, about a meter in length and half a meter in width, with complex terrain outlined by black, green, red, yellow, blue, and other colored lines.

Aidan scanned it, slightly surprised.

The map covered a wide area, with some corners far from the castle. For a mortal to explore these areas, it was indeed not easy.
