Detective Walker
"Chief Tom, are you even listening to yourself?" Laura's voice was laced with disbelief and disgust. "You're defending a murderer because you 'enjoy her company'? Do you realize the gravity of what you've done? You've compromised an entire investigation"
Chief Tom's face was pale, and he seemed to shrink under Laura's gaze. His earlier bravery had completely evaporated, replaced by the stark reality of his situation.
"I didn't know what else to do," he muttered, his voice barely audible. "She... she threatened me, said she'd ruin me if I didn't help her. I didn't think it would go this far."
"Well, it did," I said, my voice hard as steel. "And now you're going to have to face the consequences. This isn't just about you anymore. You've allowed a dangerous criminal to escape justice, and that's something neither of us can overlook."
