Roel's POV
1150 SD
Then, that time came. It's the day of the Dark Knight entrance exam, and Kazaki, Aife, and I are ready for it. The night before, we trained up from morning to afternoon. And now, it's our time to shine. In the classroom in the capital's Knights' Academy, our teacher gave us our Dark Knight entrance exam papers, telling us that we had an hour to answer them. And so, we and the other applicants began to answer it. We were determined to do so, but we felt pressured by it. The questions on the exam papers are a bit specific, hard, and technical. And then, an hour of an eternity had passed, and we put our quill pens in the ink bottles.
"Okay. I'll be checking your papers," our teacher said to us. "Your scores will be posted on the courtyard notice board at recess time. All of you may leave the classroom and take a break."
We then stood up and left the classroom, going to the courtyard to kill some time. There the three of us sat on the soft, green grass to relax.
"Man, I hoped we could pass," Kazaki commented.
"We did our best though," I responded.
"That was so tough." Aife sighed.
We then looked around, seeing the other students sitting and chatting to one another.
"It seems that they are confident, too," Aife commented.
"Yeah, they are," I replied back.
Recess time came, and we gathered at the courtyard notice board to see our results. There many applicants are elbowing each other for a better view of their final scores. But, we managed to get a good view and started searching for our names on the list. Then, we saw that Kazaki and I had 79 points each in our exams.
"Yes, we did it, Kazaki-kun!" I turned to Kazaki with joy.
"Yeah, we did it," Kazaki replied back.
After that, we searched for Aife's name on the list, but her name didn't appear anywhere on the list, even at the bottom.
So that means…
"I failed?" Aife gasped.
We then looked at her.
"It's okay, you did your best."
Kazaki didn't say anything about it at all.
Luckily, Aife was not devastated at all, and she turned to me and Kazaki. "You're right. I did my best and gave my all for that exam."
"That's right." I nodded in agreement. "You can take it again next year."
But, someone came and informed Aife that although she failed the Dark Knight entrance exam, she is still eligible to join the adventurers' guild.
The three of us were very surprised to hear that.
"What?"
"I can?" Aife asked back.
That person, a faculty staff member perhaps, then nodded. "Yes, at least you have skills as proof."
Because of this, Aife quickly accepted it. "Yes! Thank you so much, sir. I had skills at my disposal. I will prove to them that I can be an adventurer."
"You're welcome," the person replied back. "You can go there to apply for a license."
"I will."
At the same time, Kazaki and I are now official students of the Knights' Academy.
Third person POV
The next day, the person, who is actually a school faculty staff member, led Kazaki, Roel, and Aife to the capital's adventurers' guild so Aife could register at the receptionist's desk. There the guild receptionist welcomed them and asked them. "How can I help you today?"
"I am here to register as an adventurer," Aife boldly said to her.
"Oh, okay, I will give you a registration form.,"
The receptionist then grabbed a blank registration form from under the desk and gave it to Aife. "Here you go."
Aife then grabbed a quill pen and filled it up, before giving it back to the receptionist.
"Okay, we will determine your rank," the receptionist said to her.
"Thank you, ma'am," Roel said to her with gratitude.
Kazaki said nothing and just watched everything.
After that, Roel and Kazaki decided to register in as well so they could go in quests while studying.
