Chapter 9 - Devi Yamuna & Mata Ganga!

World's P.O.V,

After crossing Charmanvati river, Vasusena and others once again arrived in the pure water of Yamuna river. Yamuna river's water was hailed to be sweeter than the sweetest nectar in the mortal world.

Affected by this sweetness, Makar and the school of fishes were dazed for a moment. But, only for a moment as they recovered quickly and continued their journey towards the Kingdom of Anga.

Yamuna, her descent on Earth was a confusing matter. In one story she came to the mortal plane to pray for his brother Yama to be freed from his curse of losing his foot which he used to attack his mother's other half 'Chhaya'. In another story, She was brought to the Earth by the ascetic practice of the Seven Sages where she first descended on Mount Kalinda or maybe both.

However, one thing must be noted, She is one of the daughters of Suryadev and Sandhya Devi, beloved sister of Yama(The God of Death) and future wife of Shri Krishna who accompanied him from his incarnation till death.

Currently, She was paying respect to her father, Suryadev when she felt a divine presence entering her water from Chambal river.

At first she was a little baffled, It was unrealistic that something holy would ever enter from the Chambal river. Not to mention that Chambal was known for its dark murky water, She was formed as a curse.

Since it piqued her interest, She secretly came to observe the divine presence only to witness the purification of Chambal. Though she is a goddess, even she hadn't seen this type of miracle which only Mata Ganga can perform that too due to her boon.

It was unthinkable for a child to achieve the feat that countless sages can't perform. Chambal's curse wasn't due to her bad karma but it was the amalgamation of negative emotions of countless animals. Although Sages can exchange Chambal's bad karma onto themselves or they could perform Yagya(Worshipping Supreme lord or Nature).

However, to clear this much negative thoughts, only Trimurties incarnation can perform these feats. She was aware that the child was anything but an incarnation of any Supreme lord.

Curious about the child's truth, She followed the wax basket till the Ganga-Yamuna-Sarswati meet or Triveni Sangam. A place where the three holiest rivers meet.

Though curious about the child, she couldn't bring herself to stop that wax basket. She had already lost herself in the divine chants of 'Om' as she too recited this divine syllable, forgetting about her objective.

Instead of finding the truth, she herself accompanied the child bathing in a strange yet familiar radiance that she had seen countless times, to the Ganges river.

'Huh!'

When Vasusena had left her water's, It was then she came out of her stupor. Despite Yamuna's urge to catch up to the child, she was aware of her inability to do so.

It was as far as she could venture, she couldn't enter Ganges water without her permission as it would be very disrespectful towards Mother Ganga and even if she could, it would be disastrous for other creatures.

Hence, She dropped her impossible plan and looked at the child with a tilak in the shape of Surya vanishing into the horizon, It was the most she could do at that moment.

However, That divine child left her with feelings of familiarity and closeness, like they were somehow connected with each other.

Therefore, She decided to inform mother Ganga before leaving to discuss this issue with her father, Suryadev.

These are the very Mantras used to pay one's respect to Mata(Mother) Ganga.

And, these mantras did their wonder as after a few moments, A women clad in a pure white Saree and white blouse appeared out from the pure water Ganga river.

Standing against her, Devi Yamuna's beauty pales in comparison. On one hand, Devi(Goddess) Yamuna was a maiden with black complexion, always carrying pot with herself whether standing on her mount Turtle or standing on the surface of water with her hands folded in respect for Mata Ganga.

On the other hand, Mata Ganga is epitome of purity and appeared as a fair-complexioned woman, wearing a white crown and sitting on a crocodile. She holds a water lily in her right hand and a flute in her left. When shown with four hands she carries a water-pot, a lily, and a rosary, and has one hand in a protective mode. Her black hairs were opened, which swayed in the gentle current, creating an ethereal and divine atmosphere, providing serenity to the surrounding.

"Say Daughter Yamuna, Why did you call me?" asked Mata Ganga in her soothing voice, threatening to clean each and every impurity of the listener.

Hearing which, Devi Yamuna replied with utmost respect, "Mata Ganga, I apologize for disturbing your rest. But, a few hours ago, I noticed a divine presence entering my water. This presence came from Devi Charmanvati's side, therefore, I went to find the truth about this presence. However, I was lost in the chants of a child half-asleep in the wax basket which had just entered your body?"

Devi Yamuna looked at Mata Ganga, to which she simply nodded her head, hence she continued, "This strange child freed Devi Charmanvati from her birth curse. Something only an incarnation can accomplish. I also felt some kind of intimacy and familiarity with that child. That's why I wanted to make a selfish request to the respected Mother, May I?"

Mata Ganga heard her every word before gently smiling at her and told her to proceed further.

Devi Yamuna continued, while not able to notice the change in Mata Ganges temperament, "Mata, Please take care of him till he reaches his destination. From his situation, this child's mother may have abandoned him in the river. Neither I am aware of that mother's difficulties at that time nor I wish to know. If your respected self can safe-guard this child briefly, I will be grateful to you!"

Even after hearing Devi Yamuna's request, Mata Ganga stood unmoving. Her previous smile had vanished without a trace.

The surroundings started to turn chaotic as the world felt a wild aura coming out from Mata Ganga.

This invisible pressure kept rising causing the world to tremble at the sight. Every creature started running away from Mata Ganga. Though known for her Purity and forgiveness, she wasn't to be trifled with.

Even without any destructive power, Her sheer volume can drown the entire Akashganga(Milky way). This was the reason, due to which Lord Shiva sealed the volume of Mata Ganga in the coils of his hairs, allowing only a little amount of it to gently flow down from the tip of the Himalayas.

Unfortunately, someone has successfully triggered the anger of this forgiving celestial.

"Mata Ganga please stop!" Feeling the change in her surroundings, Devi Yamuna knelt on the surface of water and pleaded to Mata Ganga.

Sadly, Her pleas were destined to not be answered by the mighty celestial, furious by the act of a mother abandoning her own child.

Her thoughts were, 'How can a mother abandon her child?! Which mother can bear to part with her child?! That too, Throwing their child in a river! Even I felt an unimaginable amount of pain when I had to kill my own Child! With my own hands! Even after knowing, It was for them to get Moksha and they were evil sages, I couldn't bear that pain! Which heart of stone does a mother require to commit this heinous sin!'

Her thoughts started from self-doubts that fueled her rage into destruction, Like her Host Mahadev, She too has two inverse personalities of both gentleness and Chaos. Even if disrespect, she won't take it to heart. However, Once provoked, she will never stop without drowning the sinners or whole mortal plane or three realms if required.

'A woman like her is an insult to the community of mothers! Her sin can't be forgiven!'

"Mata Ganga please calm down!"

With that thought, She ignored Devi Yamuna and headed towards the Child to find the truth of this matter. If that mother really abandoned Vasusena...

Hell will descend on Earth, causing the destruction of all, till it calms Mata Ganga!
