"Or...." He moved his hand to the waistline of her trousers. "Do you need further and deeper reminding?"
"No!" She quickly grabbed his hand before it did further damage. He did not need to know her wet situation. And she too was afraid of things would not be the same once she lets him. Fear. Yves did not understand her actions. He released her nipple, giving her an inquisitive look.
"You don't need.... I remember. I.... Look", she sighed. It had gotten to this but this was where it had to end. "Mr. Walker-"
"Not Mr. Walker, not Claude, use the name I gave you", he ordered, clearly suppressing irritation.
"...Yves", she watched him, gentleness seeped through his eyes. "Is that even your name?"
"It is. It's my middle name." He answered with warm emotions dancing in his eyes. He was clearly fond of the name.
"Yves", she tested, his eyes lit up hearing her say it. She opened her mouth to speak when her gaze fell to her chest. She quickly moved to pull down the hem of her blouse-
"Uh-uh", he caught her wrist. "Play fair. You've been staring at my chest. It's my turn."
"Were you always this unreasonable?" She furrowed her brows despite her blushing face.
"Hmm.... Only if it involves you", he shrugged.
She sighed, his statement reminding her of what she wanted to say. "Listen, this- what happened in Country S cannot repeat itself especially in this situation. I came here as an agent to do my job and not to sleep with you."
"Kareena-"
"We can't, we don't get involved with our clients. It's against policy. This", she gestured at their current situation. "This is against the agency's policy."
"Then we have nothing to worry about."
"What?"
"I'm not your client, my father is."
"Yves-"
"And I won't get in the way of your job. You can be professional all you want, just don't", he pleaded, his eyes displaying the desperation in his tone. "Just don't act cold and distant with me."
Kareena was dumbfounded. Was that how she hurt him? It must have really bothered him early on..?
Ring!
The sound of the landline ringing brought the two back to earth. Kareena was yet to respond when the ringing persisted. Yves cursed at the device and lifted himself from her and walked over to answer it.
"Yes?....." He closed his eyes, suppressing the rage threatening to erupt. "I'll be right there."
He turned to the bed to find Kareena done fixing her clothes and standing prim and proper. Their little reunion had been cut short.
No words came out of her mouth and she left his room just like that. A lot and nothing at the same time occupied her mind. She felt like she was floating on clouds. Fluttering but dangerous.
As soon as she closed the door behind her, she was met with a situation that she was not sure how to deal with. May. She had heard everything.
Kareena slowly walked over, biting on the inside of her bottom lip. She had no idea where to start nor did she want to get into it right then. She gave a jump when May hastily threw on huge dark shades that covered half her face.
"Who's there?" She waved her hand and patted her surroundings all too loud, feeling around. "Who's there? I can't see anything. I've had selective blindness since birth. Who's there? Huh?! Did someone say something? I also have selective hearing, I'm deaf to a LOT of things! Is someone there? Did anyone say something?!"
Kareena gave a helpless smile, what would she do with the girl? May gave her a sheepish smile just when Yves walked out, fully dressed in smart casual.
His gaze went to Kareena and she averted hers, her face and ears turning red at the reminder of what happened in his room. Yves countenance softened, at least she was not cold anymore.
His gaze moved to May, his brows went up at the spectacles resting on her face. She quickly removed them and slipped them into her cargo pants pocket.
The three left the study and made way to the main dining hall. The sound of chatter and laughter grew louder as they approached. Kareena awkwardly cleared her throat a bit too loudly it earning the two's attention with brows raised in question.
"We'll stand guard out here", she told Yves.
He arched a brow at her. That can't be her way of addressing him now, is it? Still, he nodded. "Alright."
Security opened the door for the man to walk in. Kareena's sharp eye unintentionally fell on a familiar guest as the doors shut behind Yves.
'Senator Kewl?' she mused. 'There's only one Senator Kewl..... No! I probably saw wrong!.... Did I?'
"What's up?" May worried at Kareena's confused expression.
"Ah Claude", an older man's unfamiliar voice boomed from behind the doors.
"Uncle Harold", Yves acknowledged in his calm and cool deep voice.
"You remember my friend Senator Alex Kewl", The man called Uncle Harold spoke. "This is his son, Christopher."
The girls' jaws dropped as they exchanged a look. Kareena's scumbag of an ex was being introduced to her current one night stand turned into whatever special yet to be defined but hot situationship! What the hell is fate playing at?
