"Aaaaaaaaaaaaahhh!!!"
A scream was heard from the outside. The two men were snapped out of their trance and looked at the source of the blood.
The body of the culprit now lay lifeless in a pool of blood. Meaty flesh spilled out of his opened abdomen along with his blood. Some of his organs twitched, fighting for the tiny life in him that was seeping away. His mouth and eyes wide open in horror and fear as though he had realized what was about to happen to him.
"Shit!" Someone shouted from the opened door. "It happened in here too. Marsh, Nick, you guys alright?"
"Wait..." Nick forced his frozen limbs to turn him around to face away from the horrifying scene to his colleague. "What do you mean in here too?"
"It's a mess man! They all exploded! One minute they're complaining about having a heart attack and then they explode! Like someone set a bomb inside them to go off at the same time. There's blood everywhere, guts-"
Barf!
He caught sight of the victim in front of Nick and Marshall and the man ended up seeing his once eaten breakfast in a less appealing state.
Barf!
The two men barfed their way out of the room. The rest of the floor was chaotic with paramedics rushing to the scene, horrified screams along with cries being heard. The air stunk with the acidic smell of vomit and the strong stench of blood.
Amidst the chaos, a figure in the shadows wearing a cap over their short ashy gray hair and an exposed tattoo on their neck disappearing underneath their dark clothes. Their inked fingers swiftly moved on their phone to dial a number.
"K...", She spoke when the person answered. She let out a heavy sigh at the scene before her. "About the culprits....I have bad news for you."
At the Whitehouse
"All of them?" Kareena's brows furrowed. She rubbed her neck to ease the pressure. She patted the back of her head, taking a deep breath with her eyes closed as she listened to Kendra's report over the phone. "Alright. Go back and rest... Mm. Thanks."
Beep.
She terminated the call and dropped the device on the sofa. She continued to take deep breaths as she paced in place, both laced hands holding the back of her neck. She slowly shook her head, still digesting what she just heard.
Claude looked at the girl with equally furrowed brows except his were out of confusion and worry. Still, he could guess her reaction was probably out of bad news she received, no, terrible news.
"Wow", May was as disturbed. "Who are these people?"
"What happened?" Claude started, his eyes wandering to Kareena.
"They're all dead", May explained. "It looks like they were walking with a bomb inside them without knowing and someone set it off, killing them all at the same time."
Kareena sighed, flopping down om the couch, elbows on her knees and putting her face in her hands from clear frustration. Claude's brows knitted, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.
These people.... They were really brutal even to their own people if it meant covering up their tracks. One thing was certain: catching this person would not be easy.
The man had just realized this truth when another odd realization hit him. He did not remember Hunter wearing an earpiece, nor seen her stuff the nude little thing in her ear.
More importantly, Kareena was standing a few feet away from her when she was on the phone. He was actually closer to her and he didn't catch anything.
"Miss Hunter?" He called, earning her attention. "You're not wearing an earpiece nor do you have a listening device, so how did you hear all that?"
May was known for her stealth, meticulousness and being quick on her feet. It is what contributed to her success in being promoted as company commander in the army.
Mistakes did not exist in her vocabulary. Yet, never in a million years did she ever think she would be caught off guard because of a mistake that she, herself, made. She looked to Kareena with a hint of panic in her eyes. This was an agency secret!
'Shit! How will I get out of this?!'
