Chapter 4 - Meeting the Archbishop

The Archbishop and the veteran exorcist arrived at the convent with their entourage without issue.

They arrived in the afternoon. After Sister Elizabeth welcomed them and they settled. I was called to meet them.

They were waiting for me in a lobby room. When I entered the room. The Archbishop smiled warmly at me. The exorcist looked at me as if trying to see my secrets. I suppose it is expected.

"Hello young Mr. Argent. It is wonderful to finally meet you. I am Archbishop Noah. You can call me Father Noah like any other priest though. This here is Father Vincent, an exorcist.", Father Noah said to me.

I greet back, "Hello to you both." I did show any excitement or dissatisfaction with them. I was merely a bit curious. Which they noticed.

Father Noah asks, "I hear from the Knights that you took on vampires by yourself. You grew 6 silver wings and made a weapon from blood. Then you effortlessly killed them all. It is quite the unbelievable story. The church would have dismissed it if not for so many knight testimonies."

I nod, "I can understand that. It would be odd to believe the story to be true just from hearing it."

Father Noah lightly chuckles, "I'm glad you understand. Which is why we came to verify the report ourselves. I apologize it took so long for us to come here. There were pressing matters that kept us from attending to you sooner."

Father Vincent then speaks, "Lucius, you wouldn't mind showing us your wings, would you?"

I shook my head, "No problem Father Vincent."

I murmured in my mind, "Crusnik 00..."

My hair turned silver white, eyes went completely red, 6 silver wings popped out of my back, fangs grew out and my aura changed from a harmless human to something epically dangerous.

Father Vincent got extremely tense while Father Noah was shocked.

Father Vincent speaks first in a flat tone, "You are no angel..."

I dip my head, "Yes, I am no angel. I never claimed to be. It would be more accurate to say that I am a winged predator. Or perhaps just simpler."

"If you are the predator, what is the the prey?", Father Noah asks with concern.

"No need to worry Father Noah and Vincent. Humans are not prey to me. However, vampires are prey to me. If vampires prey on humans, I prey on them. A simple food chain.", I explain.

Father Vincent asks while being a bit more relaxed, "What about devils and monsters?"

I tilt my head, "I have not encountered devils or monsters here. Although I know of them. Angels too. Even whispers of gods. However, I have only met vampires. Other beings to not interest me, nor my appetite. It is not...in my nature to prey upon them. Just vampires."

Father Noah asks while having calmed down a lot, "What are you exactly then?"

I answer, "Crusnik, is what I am. Anything beyond that does not matter."

Father Vincent narrows his eyes, "How many of you are there?"

"Just me, and I alone. I am unique.", I say.

Seeing that they are satisfied with the proof before their eyes. I go back to my human state.

I explain, "Think of me as a...wild sheep dog. I don't obey a shepherd. I still drive away the wolves from the sheep though. Humans have absolutely nothing to fear from me. Vampires and anything else do have plenty to fear about me though."

They both stare into my unblinking eyes. Father Vincent sighs, " I'll believe you. I feel zero evil aura from you anyways."

Father Noah gets a loght smile back on his face, "I will do the same. I don't think you are any sort of threat to humans Lucius. I believe we can rest easy. I do wonder if you would consider helping out with vampire related problems in the future though."

I put on a rare smile, "I will gladly deal with any vampire problems that you need solving. I enjoy ending them. As they have proved to be nothing more than disgusting animals tricking themselves into thinking they are sophisticated or higher lifeforms."

Father Vincent laughs, "I am starting to really like you Lucius. Hopefully, we can work together in the future."

"I would not mind working with you at all Father Vincent.", I say.

The conversation ended with a discussion about testing the extent of my power the next day.
