The duo continued to advance in the darkness with the light of Kai's blade being their only source of illumination.
Zero could feel the brush of Grimm's fur against his shoulder as the forest lynx didn't stray too far away from him. It was like he knew something was off already. Surprised this system doesn't come with night vision as a default, Zero thought.
It was quiet aside from what sounded like a small critter shifting a rock - almost too quiet. For the lair of an apparent secret boss, it seemed like there should be more dramatics or something; but there was just the darkness and silence that enveloped them.
"Do you still see the trail of energy?" Zero whispered.
"Yes. It's getting clearer the more we walk. Be ready for anything." Kai responded.
They walked for a little while longer when the cave took a slight turn, or so they think, off into a more narrow passage.
"Huh. That's weird." Kai muttered.
