Chapter 24 - Guiding to Destined Chamber

A mysterious firefly that appears to linger in the dark dungeon, an interesting yet mundane thing to bother in a fantasy story. Captivatingly, a story finely entwined with the spirit of this radiant creature provides us with some background information.

Once a upon a time, over the course of two decades, Jesselyn and Matt, a dynamic duo of adventurers, carved out a legacy as unmatched explorers. Their path took them to the edge of an unknown cave, its existence unknown. The mystery was in the cave's undiscovered beginnings, which inspired curiosity because the world was unaware of it. Driven by a steadfast desire to explore, Jesselyn and Matt entered the enigmatic and dark cave headlong, determined to discover its mysteries despite the mysteries shrouded in darkness.

Jesselyn and Matt saw an amazing sight as soon as they entered the cave. As the dreamlike scene materialised in front of them, they were enthralled by the stunning vista embellished with magical mushrooms and shimmering water. It was truly amazing to see the beauty of this uncharted territory for the first time. Enthralled with the cave's charm, they spent days discovering all of its mysteries and painstakingly penetrating every nook and cranny to uncover any more mysteries that might be concealed within.

A sudden event occurred during their investigation when Jesselyn discovered an anomaly while exploring by herself while Matt went somewhere else. Her sharp eyes and conjecture took her farther into the cave, where she found an odd object: a single, arcane flower glowing a captivating cyan colour. Their mission became even more mysterious as a result of this extraordinary discovery, which piqued interest in the origin and characteristics of this brilliant botanical marvel.

Curiosity pushing her aside, Jesselyn reached out to touch the bright flower's petals, not realising what would happen next. She was shocked when the blue light surrounded her and began to slowly change into a series of small circles. The formerly inquisitive explorer discovered that the blossom was cursed, putting her in danger. Her frantic calls for rescue resounded throughout the cave, but sadly, nobody responded to save her. She was left on her own to mull over the enigmatic aftermath of the cursed encounter.

The flower known as "Efreet" gained its menacing nickname, the "cursed flower," because it is easily tricked by anyone. Society was initially blinded by its captivating appearance and entrancing luminescence in the dark until it became apparent that this seemingly beautiful flower was actually hiding dangerous things.

Tears spilt from her eyes in her final moments, turning into tiny enchanted particles that woven a subtle spell throughout the area. Her body broke apart into glowing rings of light gradually, disappearing to thin air.

When Matt learned that his partner was missing, he set out to find her by searching every possible place. His eyes searched the area, following any trail he could find, but he found no sign of her. He was about to give up when he suddenly remembered that monsters existed. Matt was afraid Jesselyn had been taken by these malicious creatures.

From the shadows, Matt heard a gentle whisper calling out to him. Curious, he followed the enigmatic murmurs and found a single firefly glowing softly in the shadows. Matt was reminded of his partner's love of fireflies by a rush of old memories. Matt followed the firefly's light instinctively as it took off.

Matt followed the glowing trail until he came across the flower. He stared at it, and a deep comprehension of Jesselyn's enigmatic disappearances swept over him. The identification of that specific flower exacerbated his destruction, as he realised its significance in her mystery.

Matt cried out in agony, seeing his partner disappear into nothingness. But in the middle of his mourning, a soft murmur that seemed to emanate from somewhere else touched his ear.

The words "Do not shed tears, my love, for the fault is mine. Resist despair, follow the guiding light, and I will safely lead you." seemed to gently and comfortingly enter Matt's mind. "Though I may have departed, my presence resides within your heart, always by your side."

This concluded the story of two explorers in the magical land of Eldoria, an old folktale.

The lesson teaches individuals to be cautious when approaching situations directly and stresses the value of careful consideration before acting. People remained unaffected by the story's veracity despite its didactic message and instead came to cherish it as a part of many childhoods.

Until unexpected events revealed the truth behind the seemingly legend story, elders told the tale to their grandchildren for generations, treating it as a timeless piece of lore...

In a scene full of intrigue, Yuichi and Lumiella were drawn inexorably to the glowing firefly's ethereal glow. Together, with only the ethereal glow of the dungeon to guide them, they descended into its shadowy depths.

Yuichi was shocked to see a glowing firefly suddenly appear in front of him. Its dim glow almost went unnoticed at first, but Yuichi's eyes, equipped with his newfound passive ability, captured the mysterious radiance with skill.

The glowing firefly began to dance elegantly around the edges of one wall as they followed its soft glow through the cavern. It moved as though it was taking a moment to appreciate its surroundings, seeming to linger.

'It came to a halt... What is it doing? I need to take a closer look.' Yuichi pondered

Yuichi and Lumiella's curiosity grew as they approached the enigmatic firefly. Yuichi examined the mystical creature with keen interest, driven by a desire to discover its secrets. Lumiella, on the other hand, was captivated by the ethereal beauty emanating from the firefly's gentle glow, just like a kid with curious mind.

Their mutual fascination grew as they closely observed the firefly, which, to their surprise, began to dance gracefully around the surrounding walls. The radiant insect transformed itself into a magical star, hovering in the air for a brief moment before vanishing like a delicate bubble, leaving the two observers in awe of the ephemeral spectacle.

'What just happened?' Bewildered by the sudden disappearance of the firefly, Yuichi was temporarily puzzled.

A sense of wonder unfolded before him as his gaze lingered on the spot where the radiant insect had vanished. To his surprise, the wall next to him mysteriously changed, revealing a small entrance that resembled a doorway, as if the firefly's ethereal display had triggered a hidden mechanism within the surroundings.

Yuichi was taken aback and caught off guard by the unexpected turn of events. Despite his initial surprise, his curiosity grew. Lumiella, on the other hand, was captivated by the firefly's captivating performance, her attention completely absorbed. Yuichi, driven by curiosity, advanced cautiously, guiding both of his legs through the small entrance fashioned by the enigmatic firefly. Lumiella was startled out of her reverie by Yuichi's movement and hastened to follow him into the mysterious passage.

After passing through the small doorway, Yuichi and Lumiella found themselves in a small room with bookshelves tucked in the corners. The focal point was a table with a melted candle and strewn paperwork all over it. The atmosphere had a mediaeval quality, like an old study, as though they had travelled back in time through a secret tunnel.

[Warning: Dungeon Room Detected. Exercise caution and remain vigilant for potential hazards in your surroundings!]

Yuichi went inside and looked around, while Lumiella trailed behind him.

'This is an old room... It appears abandoned and aged. This dungeon was probably home to ancient people, sort of , though...' Yuichi pondered as he looked around.

'Since I'm in a fantasy world with a strong videogame elements around here, it really shouldn't come as a surprise. It's just that I haven't seen a proper room like this in ages. I'm hoping they have a bathroom or something similar so I can resume proper hygiene.'

Yuichi looked around the room, his eyes glued to the bookshelves, beckoning him in closer. Carefully inquiring, he reached out and picked up a book that was on the shelf. Lifting the book up to eye level, he looked over the cover and began his exploration of the pages of this enigmatic room.

At first, the title was impossible to read because it was written in an old-fashioned script and adorned with Eldoria's complex alphabet. But the [System] proved helpful to Yuichi in his quest for knowledge; it translated Eldorian into English with ease and unveiled the secret message written inside the book's pages.

[Revenant Theory by: Charles Faelanstride]

'Well, that's interesting... It seems valuable to keep. Though I'm not a type of a guy who reads a lot from books, but this could be helpful to teach Lumiella some basic words.'

Yuichi eagerly turned the pages of the book, hoping that the translation of the [System] would reveal its mysteries. He was engrossed in the text and kept reading because he was curious about what was contained in it. Yuichi read on, engrossed in the revelations found in the book.

Lumiella, in the meantime, looked around the room with her captivating blue eyes and her insatiably curious expression. Her wanderings brought her to a specific area of the wall next to the corner table. She was intrigued by what she had found, so she walked slowly and deliberately towards the location, pausing to study whatever it was that had caught her eye.

Yuichi was momentarily dumbfounded by Lumiella's odd obsession with one particular location. He had no idea by her actions and wondered what the purpose of her concentrated attention was. But his contemplation was cut short when something unexpected happened.

Famous for being dangerous but rewarding, dungeon rooms are home to dangerous monsters and sought-after items like gold coins, upgraded gear, beautiful decorations, and priceless loot from the dead. Adventurers are drawn to the allure of exploration because it offers the possibility of significant financial gain. But there's a catch to this allure: these dungeon rooms are naturally unpredictable, changing into a potentially dangerous and random setting.

Adventurers proceed with caution, aware that there may be dangerous traps and, even more frighteningly, powerful boss monsters hiding there. The trouble with these rooms is that they're a gamble, because of the uncertainty. Once inside, getting out becomes a difficult task that can only be completed under certain circumstances.

Whether it's solving a challenging puzzle or taking on a formidable boss monster, completing these requirements is necessary to reach the exit. However, the dungeon room's unpredictable layout makes these escape attempts all but impossible.

Just as Lumiella got closer to the chosen wall, dark, threatening tentacles shot out, quickly entangling her. As the tentacles tightened around her, her expression changed to one of shocked.

'What the?! She's clipping out to the wall!' Yuichi pondered surprisingly.

As Yuichi saw this distressing progression, he began to panic more and more as his companion was pulled closer to the wall. It was as if the wall were translucent, engulfing Lumiella without requiring her to make any visible physical contact with the surface.

"Lumiella!" Yuichi shouted.

Yuichi gritted his teeth and reacted quickly in a panic. He dropped the book and ran towards Lumiella, wanting nothing more than to get her out of the dark, tentacle-like grip that was trying to drag her into the wall. With a determined expression on his face, he extended his hand and tried to yank Lumiella away from the approaching threat.

Even though Yuichi moved quickly to save Lumiella, it was in vain. Just as he was about to grab her hand, she was completely engulfed by the wall and was gone forever. With a crash against the now-solid surface, Yuichi's outstretched hand came to a sudden stop, and he felt helpless as the wall closed in solid.

Yuichi was filled with shock and confusion as he attempted to comprehend Lumiella's abrupt disappearance. He put both hands on the wall in a desperate attempt to follow her into whatever enigmatic space she had ventured into. But all of his efforts were in vain because the wall would not yield to his pressure, leaving him feeling frustrated and powerless.

Yuichi clenched his teeth and let out a terrified expression, 'Shit, I wasn't thinking this room has traps on! This is bad!'

Yuichi turned as a sudden gust of wind caught his attention. He was shocked to see that the wall with the little doorway had become a simple, solid stone surface. Startled by the sudden shift, he struggled to reconcile the fact that there had unquestionably been an entrance just moments before, a way in that he and Lumiella had entered into this mysterious chamber. But for now, that possible way out had disappeared, leaving only an impenetrable wall and confusion.

When Yuichi finally realised what they had done, he was now in a slight panic.

'Crap, we're trapped...'
