Pacific Pharma Solutions, based in LA, had built a new hospital in New Mexico in 2004 under the name of charity for the poor.
However, their true motive was to conduct a clinical trial for their new drug.
The drug, code-named "HISPI" (Hospital Intervention for Severe Pain and Inflammation), was supposed to revolutionize pain management. Pacific Pharma Solutions' CEO, Mr. Johnson, saw dollar signs.
The faster HISPI hit the market, the more profits they'd reap. Safety precautions? Those were mere hindrances.
In order to speed up the process and make more money, the company convinced the workers involved in the hospital's construction to try the drug on themselves without taking any safety precautions.
And so, in the shadow of half-built walls, the workers became unwitting guinea pigs. HISPI injections were administered without consent, without safety protocols.
