Chapter 22 - The Scorpion King's Lair 2

The middle-aged woman has served the Scorpion King for a long time and has prepared many women for her King. But the woman before her looked like a Goddess with her golden hair and blue eyes. She had not noticed it before because of the grime that covered her. But now that she had bathed, she was beautiful. His king will surely be happy.

"You are a beautiful young woman. You will surely delight King Akdan."

Diana did not understand a word she said. She shook her head to indicate she did not understand.

"I don't understand a word you are saying," Diana said tentatively.

The woman looked at her blankly; then, her gaze turned into adoration.

"Your words must be the language of the heavens." She kneeled and prostrated herself before Diana.

Diana was shocked. She gestured to the woman to stand up. The woman stood and put a headband made of white flowers on her hair. She led her to another chamber, which looked like a dining area, given that there was a long table and a long bench. She was served a feast.

Diana was hesitant at first. She felt it was her last supper and that she was a lamb to be slaughtered. But because she was too hungry, she ate to her heart's content. She was served with wine, and after she drank it, she felt that her body started to heat up. She thought it was a normal reaction when drinking wine.

The middle-aged woman led her to another chamber. It was called the bridedal chamber. It has a bed the middle was laid with fleece. The walls of the chamber were draped with gauze-like fabric and decorated with red roses creating a romantic ambience.

Two other women were sitting on the edge of the bed. Like her, they were dressed in a gauze-like dress that did not hide their curves and private parts.

Diana felt dizzy, and she was in a trance. Was she going to die? She just turned 18. If not for her father needing urgent surgery, she would not have asked her cousin to bring her along and be an escort.

It was her first time doing an escort job, and Rosette promised her that she would only accompany her customers in drinking, nothing beyond that.

But now, she was in a forsaken place, dressed to be slaughtered.

The two women beside her were of the same age as her. They were trembling and in a worse state than her.

They were talking to her, but she could not understand them so she decided to lie down on the bed, her two feet dangling while half of her body lay on the comfortable bed.

Meanwhile, King Akdan was in his chamber, and Vera, the Sorceress, was attending to his wounds.

"My King, what kind of weapon has hurt you? I can't believe that there is a knife or a sword that could pierce your skin." Vera said with a frown as she studied the wound on the king's shoulder.

"It is not a knife or a sword. It is black in color. It spewed a small stone, and the speed was so fast that I could not see it. I dodged by instinct because of the disturbance in the wind."

The sorceress frowned. She smelled the wound, and there was something strange in the smell.

"They were riding on a boat stuck in the middle of Barasan. The boat looked different. It has five levels, and the boat was made of shiny materials, not wood."

"They have strange weapons. Other than the black one that hurt me, they also had another one that spewed out a blue fire that burned my scorpion." King Akdan turned gloomy when he remembered how many scorpions burned with just one sweep of the torch.

"Their women looked strange. Their hair was like gold, and their eyes were blue, except for one. She had red hair and green eyes, and her scent was intoxicating."

The sorceress who was applying herbal medicine on his wound froze.

"They are not from our world, My King. Could it be that the portal was opened, and the woman in the prophesy has come?" Vera blurted out excitedly.

"I'll come with you. I want to see them and capture them." Vera's eyes darkened with greed. If the 'chosen one' fell into their hands, she would have unfathomable power, and she, with King Akdan, would rule Astralis.

"You have forgotten that today is the night when the four moons of Astralis appear in the sky simultaneously and will stay for seven nights." King Akdan said gloomily.

The four moons of Astralis will appear in the sky every four months for seven nights. On these nights, The scorpion king and all his minions, including their sorceress, will be at their weakest, and the king will be consumed by uncontrollable lust. If he did not mate, he would become crazy.

The night of the four moons would be when the Scorpion King transforms into his human form, and he can stay in that form for seven days and seven nights.

"Why not use your healing power to heal my wounds? It is almost midnight, and I need to be in the bridal chamber." King Akdan said, glaring at the sorceress.

"Don't rush me. I am studying your wound and testing my new herbal concoction on it. It stopped the bleeding, but the wound is not closing."

The scorpion king became impatient as he started to feel the heat in his body. He urged the sorceress to heal his wound, and Vera did so without further ado.

After the king dismissed Vera, then he soaked in a pool beside his chamber. The spring water from the pool replenished his strength.

The four crystals on the pool roof were strategically positioned to point to the north, south, east, and west.

The king's lair was underground, but during the first night of the four moons, the tip of the four crystals appeared above the ground. At exactly 12:00 midnight, the beam of the east moon would hit the east crystal, the west moon, the west crystal, the south moon, the crystal placed to the south of the pool, and the east moonbeam would hit the east crystal.

The four crystals would then channel the moon beams into another crystal on the middle, and the entire oval pool would be illuminated with the golden hue of the moonbeams.

King Akdan was soaking in the pool with his eyes closed, thinking about the woman with the red hair. When he looked at her earlier, she wasn't scared or intimidated, but she glared back with her bright green eyes.

Lost in his thoughts, the king felt a rush of energy in his body. Opening his eyes, he saw himself enveloped in the golden light reflected from the crystal above him. It lasted for a minute. When the light disappeared, King Akdan stepped out from the pool.

His muscular body and thighs shone like bronze, and his eyes darkened a shade deeper. The two orbs were like obsidian. He took a robe that hung near the chamber entrance and called a servant to dry his hair.

When he stepped into the bridal chamber, his gaze fell on the two women standing dazed on the side with flushed faces. Then his gaze darted to a pair of long, slender, and fair legs dangling on the bed.

"Good evening, My King. The girls are ready." the middle-aged woman knelt on her knees.

"Ready? What is she doing on the bed? Wake her up."
