Night Time.
In the middle of a grassy plain, two army camps could be seen Kilometres apart. Both were set up on a hill created magically for Vantage and strategic purposes.
The two armies had Flags of Orion in Purple-Blue cloth with a Dragon Embroidered in gold while the other had a Red Cloth with a Shield and Two Swords Crossed embroidered in Gold raised high and flowing with the wind.
[A/n. I couldn't find any reference to the Empire's Flags so I took some liberties]
Behind the Army of Orion was the vast expanse of the Jura Forest while behind the Eastern Empire's was the border leading to the Empire. Both sides had reached a mutual agreement to postpone the Inevitable clash for a few hours.
In the Largest tent of the Eastern Empire, a meeting was being held.
*Bang!*
"I was told that those Bastards will take at most a day to meet us. But why do I see the enemy's army already before us? Does anyone have a good explanation before I kill all of you?"
A black haired youth asked. He had a facial feature similar to a Japanese, his attire reminiscent of the Japanese Navel Uniform.
He was Tatsuya Kondou. The first Lieutenant or the Leader of the Imperial Guardians.
Along with him, Calgurio and Gradim were present in this expedition. If he were to be honest, he would rather continue training his Swordsmanship then participate in this Boring fight.
Even if the General public didn't knew it, he, as an important figure of the Empire, naturally was aware of the True War that was yet to happen. This one where he was right now was just a warmup if you ask him.
"I don't know, according to my scouts, there was no sign of the army but it looks like they appeared out of nowhere as if they.... teleported."
Calgurio, the strategist and Commander of the Strongest division of the army spoke. As he trailed along, he finally realised why his scouts were unable to give him a proper report.
"So you wanna say they teleported? Almost 2 million individuals, all B rank and above?"
Tatsuya asked in scepticism.
Teleporting even a group of four required intensive resources and magi-ores. Teleporting millions would kill even the empire's economy. If it were to be conducted by a mage, they'd have to have a high understanding of spatial awareness or simply have vast Magicules and A skill related to it.
"Yes. It is not implausible. I heard that one of the Ministers is skilled in magic. Isabella, I believe. Maybe this was her doing."
Calgurio justified his statement. Although absurd, spatial transfer was not uncommon, one just needs to have the right skill for it.
"Let's forget about that, and hope they can't do the same again or else it might lead to a catastrophic consequence." Tatsuya spoke.
His words understood by everyone present in the meeting room. If Orion decided to just teleport their army right inside Nasca's camp then there might be a chaos leading to massive losses on their sides.
"Leave all these useless things. Tell me when will we fight them?! I can smell some strong beings from their camp."
Gradim, a tiger lycanthrope impatiently asked. Although rash in certain aspects , he was one of the strongest combatants in the Empire. He had a rare skill that allowed him to gauge the speciality, Magicule count and potential of his Target just like Milim eye but from smell..
"How strong are they?" Calgurio asked. Since Orion arrived so suddenly, they didn't get a chance to fully scan the army and find out how many powerhouses were participating in this war.
"By the Magicule Density, five...no four are really strong. But they are not stronger than us. Yes, one of them is quite strong, a little too strong actually."
Gradim spoke. The four he was talking about was obviously Elizabeth, Roku, Shah el Ru and Adrigal. He was about to take Rimuru into consideration but quickly decided that Rimuru was not worth mentioning.
Naturally, the power ranking he guessed was flawed, because the team had suppressed their Magicule Density and buffed themselves with False Data spells. It allowed them an edge against the enemy which it effectively did.
The room was energised to hear the news. Basically, leaving one troublesome factor, the rest of Orion's army can be managed quite easily, though some sacrifices would be given.
This made them happy that atleast least this war will end quite quickly. The delusion of the room didn't last long as a soldier quickly entered the tent unannounced.
"Bad news Commander!! They have launched an attack!!" The soldier quickly reported as he promptly collapsed on the ground.
"What!!?" The surprise didn't last for long as large tremors soon followed as the group quickly stabilized themselves and exited the tent.
------
A few minutes ago.
In the darkness of the night, the brilliant full moon shone upon the camps as the Army prepared their equipments of the up coming fight.
Camp fires were already started as the fragrance of the roasted hunts filled the air.
Everything seemed peaceful. Like the night might quickly pass by, quietly.
Untill.
One of the soldiers looked up, as if wanting to bask in the moon light but soon noticed a strange yellow light shining brighter than the stars in the clear sky. It soon became larger and larger when he realised that the Star was not a star, but...A Fire Ball.
Before he could warn his comrades, it was too late. The fireball landed upon his position as the flames engulfed everyone within. It was not the last one, following the first one, many more fireballs fell on the camp as a great fire started. The explosions caused by the impact incurred the earth to shake.
"What the fucks going on!!" Tatsuya screamed at no one particular. He knew what was going on. He should have expected it, the enemy he was fighting was not a conventional one. They wouldn't wait for day time to strike.
Preferably, night was the most suitable for an ambush and it was common in such scenarios but what was happening now was no Ambush. It was an outright Catastrophe.
Fire everywhere as explosions after explosions followed. Calgurio quickly managed to gather mages to form a barrier to protect the remaining soldiers while the group tried to launch a counterattack.
-------
Screams of pain and anguish were spreading in the camp of the Eastern Empire as Adrigal, Elizabeth and Rimuru watched it all unfold from the sky.
'Hey.. Raphael, how many deaths has occurred?' Rimuru hesitantly asked.
The destruction and carnage below was nothing like he had seen, even when he "fought" Falmuth, such a scenario was very distant to that.
There, compared to what was happening now, it could be said to be "cleaner" andmore merciful.
[665,789 Deaths and rising.]
Raphael responded.
'And it's just been a minute.'
He looked below, to see the Mages lined behind a Five row line of melee troops, constantly firing Fireballs the size of cars ahead. It was a fact that if you had magic then seige weapons were basically useless in a war.
A simple explosion spell could do what a lage seige weapon could do to a fortress wall. You simply have to the be a mage to accomplish it.
'The next phase is beginning.'
After the initial one and half minutes of constant fireball casting, a barrier was soon erected form the enemy's side as the death toll stopped increasing. The mages too stopped their assault as the Melee took charge.
The left wing consisted of Beastmen as the Right was with the Undead. The vanguard or the middle had The Knights. The golems were equally spread throughout the lineup.
Roku and Shah el Ru were also on their respective Wings.
Roku, as a battle loving one chose to fight the assault head on in the front as Shah el Ru chose to let his minions do his dirty work.
------
As the two sides clashed with each other, Bael watched it all from his throne room.
"My Lord, Thaleia, Calypso and Selenia have departed ." Medusa informed him.
As the Jura Forest Battle occurred, Bael chose to continue the battle atmosphere all around the globe. Soon, the three demons sisters will March to the Free western Kingdoms, annexing the lands for the Supreme One.
"Hmn." Bael hummed out as he closed his eyes thinking of something.
'If I time traveled, can I finally figure out what came first? The Egg or the Chicken?'
It was not a thought that would be befitting of a Person such as himself but what could a Dragon God do when he has nothing else to distract himself?
And even then it was a pain because he already knew the answer to his questions.
Ideally speaking, Evolution would have lead to the formation of the Creature that produced the egg.
But this is a magical world. Everything's possible.
[You are getting distracted...]
'Won't you like to know the answer to it?'
[I am a Manas. A skill that has the power to comprehend, understand and store all the information of the world. I was literally the Akashic Records which was an Ultimate Skill but Author decided to make it an Unique Skill.]
{A/n It was a Mishap Damnit!!?}
'Then you know the answer right?'
[Obviously, but the Readers aren't here for that right?]
'True. Well the chapter has ended here so They have to wait for two more days to continue.'
[If the Author decided to do it. He is slacking off...]
{A/n I am not...}
