The demon woman felt a mass join the pile within the hole she was in. She had no idea who it was, of course, but for some reason, she felt compelled to find out. Almost as if she was drawn to aid them in any way she could. At this point, she had fully resolved herself to let this spot be her final resting place. She had lived a fulfilling life until the point of this war when her husband and mother were both killed in the initial raid of her home. She was captured by the militia and brought to a facility where she was forced to work for the army until she could no longer move. Although she was afraid of what every day brought, she tried to remain strong for her lost family. Although the conditions of the facility were unlivable, she tried her hardest to survive. She could, however, still notice a sense of humanity in some of the soldiers and inmates she was surrounded by. She was often given extra rations by some of the soldiers and a couple of inmates would purposely take on more daunting physical tasks so she could survive a little longer. Of course, they would never explicitly say this, but she could tell from their actions that they intended her to survive longer than themselves. She found it to be very enduring, despite the atrocities going on around them, some people were still resolved to help those who needed it. Even if it costs some of those individuals their lives. She cried for her fellow inmates who were killed by the soldiers, many of them would be released from their chains, brought away from the group, and never seen again. She feared that she would end up being one of them someday, and eventually, her fears came to be.
Despite all the efforts from others to keep her alive as long as possible, she simply could not work any longer due to her condition. The soldiers took note of this and took her to the front of the facility where she was quickly disposed of and never seen again by any of the other inmates. As she withered away in one of the holes in the front yard, she thought about her family, why he was being forced to die in such a horrible way and all those she laid upon who suffered the same fate as her. She spent two days in that hole before she finally met her fate. It happened when she felt another individual fall onto her, it took her a while to move the now unconscious body off of her to see who it was. With the exhaustion and still fresh bullet holes throughout her body, any moment caused her excruciating pain. But her soul called out to her and told her to help the one who had fallen onto her. She listened and saw who the person was, she cried to herself when she saw that it was the strange red-haired demi-human with horns. He was now unconscious and had tears falling down his face, he was one of the inmates who tried his hardest to keep her alive for as long as possible. She could feel from her soul that he cried for her when she was gone, and she now did the same for him.
To thank him for everything he had done for her, she mustered up the last little bit of energy she had and transferred it to his body so that he could survive for longer and hopefully find a way out of this hell. At this point, she knew that she was not getting out, but she was resolved to help someone as she had been helped so many times. She grabbed his hand and cast a charm to transfer her body's energy to him. As the transfer was taking place, she could feel her life quickly slipping away from her. Her vision began to become blurry, and her body became less apparent to her mind as it began to separate. With her last breath, she thanked the horned demi-human for his efforts and wished him freedom. Within that same breath, she apologized to her family for not being able to survive this hell, and she apologized to her child who sat in her womb for not being able to meet him. As the life left her eyes, she clenched the demi-human's hand, and her soul began to depart from her body.
