Chapter 107: The Weight of the Truth
Mrs. Morgan's heart hammered in her chest as she dialed Dr. Einstein's number for the second time, her hand trembling as she waited for him to answer.
"Please, please, please pick up," she muttered under her breath, watching the phone's screen with wide, anxious eyes. The rings seemed to stretch on forever, each one drawing her deeper into the shadows of her guilt.
Finally, just as she was about to give up, the call connected. "Hello, Mrs. Morgan. What can I do for you?"
As the call connected, Mrs. Morgan's shoulders sagged in relief, the tension draining from her body. "Doctor Einstein," she began, her voice raw with emotion. "I have something important to tell you."
"Mrs. Morgan," he replied, concern lacing his voice. "What is it? You sound upset."
