Chapter 103: A New Life
Mrs. Morgan's thoughts were like a whirlwind, buffeting her from one nightmare to the next. She paced the length of the room, her footsteps as hurried as her mind, the fear within her palpable.
"If Doctor Einstein is really Kiara's father, then my assumptions are real," she mumbled, repeating the thought like a talisman against the horror it suggested.
But then her head shook, a denial of the reality that threatened to crumble around her. "No, this can't be," she breathed.
Frustration building like a boiling kettle, Mrs. Morgan snatched her phone from the bed with a growl of annoyance. She tapped the screen again, willing the phone to connect with Doctor Einstein. But, once again, her efforts were met with that infuriating "Unreachable" message.
"Where the heck is wrong with his line? Why is it suddenly unreachable?" she snarled at the phone, as if it were the cause of her troubles.
