And without warning, she pulled the trigger. The gunshot echoed through the church like a thunderclap, the bullet whistling through the air with lethal intent.
As the bullet missed its mark, the massive bulb hanging from the ceiling shattered in a rain of glass and sparks, its destruction lighting up the church in a flash of brilliance.
Instinctively, the group dove for cover, their bodies hitting the cold, hard floor as shards of glass rained down around them like razor-sharp confetti.
