Chapter 89: Lust and Betrayal
Kiara's ire, an inferno of frustration, blazed in her voice as she spoke. "Stop playing games. Who are you, and why are you calling me?"
The voice on the other end, undeterred by Kiara's fury, seemed to savor the dance of words.
"Well, this is Zoey," the familiar voice on the phone said. "I can't believe you would forget me so soon. You promised to call me when your husband took you away, but you never did."
As she heard those words, a wave of emotion swept over Kiara, as she realized who she had been speaking with. A rush of sadness, realization, and neglect flowed through her, as she remembered her long-time friend, Zoey.
Kiara's voice was filled with sincerity as she apologized to Zoey.
"I'm so sorry, Zoey. I am really sorry that I never called you. It's because I lost your number. I really miss you. Please don't think I'm a bad friend, I am really sorry."
