Chapter 67: The Facade
The baby's voice, small but filled with joy, rang out again, a joyful refrain of "Mama." Mrs. Morgan, watching the scene unfold before her, was incredulous. "He called you Mama?" she said, her voice dripping with shock and amusement.
"He's never called me that," she continued, "and he's been with me for months. Yet he calls this woman Mama, after just one meeting? It's… it's unbelievable."
Kiara's emotions, always so close to the surface, now threatened to spill over like a torrential rain. "Mama," the baby repeated, his tiny voice an arrow straight to Kiara's heart.
Her mind raced, searching for a way to hold back the tears, to maintain her composure in the face of such raw emotion. But the tears came, silent and shimmering, gathering in the corners of her eyes like dew on a rose petal.
She bit her lip, her gaze flicking to Enzo, who watched her with growing concern.
