Chapter 113: A Hard Decision
The shrill trill of Lucky's phone pierced the air like a siren's call, its insistent buzzing commanding his attention. He snatched up the device, placing it against his ear with a curt, "Speak. I'm listening."
The voice on the other end was low, barely audible, and yet Lucky's eyes widened as he heard the words. His brow furrowed as he absorbed the information, a knowing smile curling at the corners of his lips.
The caller's words were like music to Lucky's ears, his face breaking into a triumphant grin. "Ah, excellent work. You've secured my sister's safety," he purred, his voice laced with satisfaction. "The police have nothing to link her to Aubrey's escape, then?"
The caller's affirmative response sent a wave of relief washing over Lucky. He leaned back in his seat, feeling the weight of the world lift from his shoulders. "Well done," he praised. "You've proven yourself invaluable to me."
