"Good girl," he said, his grin chilling her to the core. "Now, just follow me and don't draw any attention. We don't want anyone to get suspicious, do we?" Lucky's voice was low and threatening.
Zoey's heart was racing, pounding against her chest like a frantic prisoner trying to break free. Fear and grief swirled inside her like a dark tornado, yet she forced herself to hide her panic, just as Lucky had instructed.
Lucky, his face a mask of calm composure, guided her to his car, and with barely a word, he slipped into the driver's seat. Zoey slid into the passenger's seat, her hands trembling as she buckled up.
Zoey's heart plummeted as the car rolled into the infamous Leonard's Tunnel. The darkness seemed to swallow them whole, as if they'd driven straight into the belly of the beast.
