Suddenly, the door to the fire exit swung open, and a familiar voice called out, "What's going on here?"
It was Chester, his face a mask of annoyance. He saw Kelly, her face pale, her eyes wide with fear, and the woman, her grip still tight on Kelly's collar, her eyes blazing with fury. He wasn't exactly thrilled to see Kelly, but he couldn't ignore the situation entirely.
"What have you done?" Chester asked, his voice clipped. "Let her go."
The woman hesitated, her gaze flickering between Chester and Kelly. She could see the fear in Kelly's eyes, the desperation in her voice. And she could see the annoyance in Chester's eyes, the lack of concern in his voice.
She knew that she had to choose: she could continue to attack Kelly, or she could back down and face the consequences of her actions.
She released her grip on Kelly, her eyes still blazing with fury. "I'll be back," she hissed, her voice a low growl. "And when I do, you'll pay."
