"You're right," Andreas whispered, his disappointment evident in his voice.
I couldn't help but smile at him, hoping to bring some comfort. "However," I continued, "I can be your friend." His face instantly lit up with hope and excitement. "We can talk, play, and get to know each other as long as I am here," I assured him, trying to alleviate his sadness.
A fleeting smile crossed his face before a question arose. "Are you leaving?" he asked, his voice filled with a mix of curiosity and concern. "Why?"
I was waiting for this question. "My stay here is temporary. Once your dad gets better, I will be leaving soon."
A flicker of fear briefly passed through his eyes, quickly transforming into sadness. Sensing his unease, I gently inquired, "What's wrong?"
He hesitated for a moment before speaking, his voice filled with determination. "I'll do my best to make you stay, mom."
