"What are you doing?" the head nurse asked, suspicion evident in her voice. I turned around, my hands unconsciously landing on my chest, feeling caught in the act.
"I was just…" I began to explain.
"Drew?" Chester exclaimed as he stepped towards me. My neck grew hot and sweaty. How could I explain to him that I followed him because I was suspicious of his closeness to Dr. Greystone?
Chester put his hands on my shoulder and introduced me to the head nurse, saying, "This is my wife." The nurse was embarrassed and apologized to me, not saying any more words. I glanced at Chester's face, reassured by his presence. However, Dr. Greystone's expression was unsettling, making me uneasy.
"I'm sorry, Chester. I was planning to head back to my room when I saw you two talking. I couldn't help but follow you," I said, aware of how embarrassing I must have looked. Chester brushed my head and said, "Are you feeling jealous right now?"
