My eyes widened upon hearing those words. Shouldn't I be the one apologizing? Why was Chester taking the blame upon himself? Had he done something unforgivable? These thoughts raced through my mind, leaving me feeling unsettled.
"Drew, forgive me," he repeated, his expression serious and earnest.
No. Chester had never disappointed me before. I pulled away from our embrace, studying his face intently
"No!" I blurted out, unable to contain my reaction.
His face paled at my sudden outburst. Stepping back, I took a deep breath, trying to steady myself. I saw him open his mouth to speak, but I quickly interrupted him. I couldn't let him break up with me.
"I'm sorry!" I closed my eyes, my hands trembling. I couldn't bear to look at his face, fearing that I might inadvertently give him the response he seemed to expect.
